Plus he passed up the chance to be the subject of an experimental medical treatment because he feared he was being given priority as a celebrity and thus taking away some poor person's chance to live a longer life.

He fostered a generation of interest in space travel and understanding the exquisite complexity of the world around us. He helped me to Love the Universe. Sagan is a hero.
