From there, I figured Adam had the sword in his possession right up until he was locked away. Then it was given to Linderman for safekeeping. Neither of them had much reason to inspect the sword; Adam would have known it was done by Hiro and just ignored it, and Linderman would have left it alone out of reverence for Adam.
