Then months and years went by with no word on a release date. It was finally released in late 2007 and early 2008. This probably contributed to its sleeper status, at least at the sales level. Most of the initial buzz had died off, the [[Fan Sub|fansubs]] had been in [[Digital Piracy Is Evil|wide circulation,]] and [[Aspect Ratio|4:3 content]] had begun to fall out of favor when the DVDs finally hit stores.
