* Names to Run Away From Really Fast: The Ruinous Treasures.
* Names to Trust Immediately: The Loyal Three But you should not trust them.
* Nerf:
** Enforced. As with Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokémon gets a separate moveset locked into that game when transferred into Scarlet and Violet instead of retaining its moves learned from previous games, effectively making transferring moves from previous generations impossible. This meant that previous moves that isn't available as a TM in Scarlet and Violet, such as Defog, had their distribution significantly reduced. This also led to scenarios such as Chansey can't have Heal Bell, when it used to learn the move through breeding in previous games.
** Following Cinderace's success in competitive formats, Protean and Libero now only change the user's type once per switch-in in Scarlet and Violet.
** Zacian and Zamazenta's stats have been reduced, with both of their Hero of Many Battles formes having their Attack stat drop to 120; Crowned Zacian has its Attack stat reduced by an additional 10 points to 150 while Crowned Zamazenta has both its defenses reduced by 5 points each. Additionally, Intrepid Sword and Dauntless Shield only activate once per battle when these abilities didn't have any restrictions in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
** Another Pokémon that got its stats nerfed is Cresselia, with both its defenses reduced by 5 points each in Scarlet and Violet.
** Regieleki's Transistor now only boosts its attacking stat when using Electric-type attacks by 33% instead of 50%. Unlike with Zacian and Zamazenta, Regidrago's Dragon's Maw is left unchanged.
** When Toxic and Scald returned as TM moves in The Teal Mask DLC, their distribution is more limited than before. Only Poison-types or those with heavy associate with it, such as Gliscor and Umbreon, can learn Toxic when almost every Pokémon could learn it before Pokémon Sword and Shield. Meanwhile, only a handful of Water-types can learn Scald through TM in Scarlet and Violet, such as Milotic and Slowking.
** While Knock Off actually did see several Pokémon being able to learn it through TM that didn't beforehand, like Tyranitar and Infernape. A few of them have lost access to Knock Off, notably Bisharp and Toxapex.
* Non-Human Sidekick: The box legendary to the player character.
* Organic Technology:
