Also important is something ''extremely'' rare in any crossover: ''things don't change right away''. The story starts sometime a little before the turn back the pendulum arc, and major changes don't happen for several chapters. This is partially because the overall spread of events was [[The Chessmaster|designed]] to allow for [[Magnificent Bastard|inconsistencies,]] and partially because Lelouch starts out at a fairly low rank, and stays that way for a while.
