Takanori Arisawa was an award-winning Anime composer before his death by cancer at age 54. Self-taught, he wrote the soundtracks for many notable anime shows, especially for Toei Animation, but also for advertisements too and many Tokyo-based shows. He admired the Hollywood sound, particularly drawing inspiration from TV shows of The Seventies.

Arisawa's first award was the 1993 Golden Disk Grand Prize from Columbia Records. He also won the JASRAC International Award, meaning he has the most international royalties, largely due to Sailor Moons worldwide popularity.
