* Complete Monster: Lotso was plenty evil before, but he out-and-out becomes clearly an example of this when even after Buzz and Woody risk their lives to save him, he leaves them and the other toys to die in the incinerator anyway.
** Even before that moment, he blew all previous villains out of the water in terms of heinousness. Sid and Al were Obliviously Evil Jerkass humans, Stinky Pete was always acting on the defensive rather than the offensive, and even Evil Emperor Zurg was a minor deluded Harmless Villain. Lotso'sThis guy is a sadist who consciously chose to inflict pain and torment on his fellow toys. He's also a nihilist to the extreme - though he believes no owner truly loves their toys, he doesn't just blame owners like Stinky Pete did. He sincerely believes that ultimately disposable trash is all a toy's existence is. His deeds and character are darker than anything that came before, being played completely without laughs after The Reveal that he is the Big Bad.
** To put it in perspective, Sid ended up an alright human being as a result of the scare the toys gave him, and Stinky Pete got a human owner, which wasn't all that bad. Lotso ended up with a Fate Worse Than Death. He's such a monster, he's the sole villain to get a horrible fate.
* Continuity Lock Out: True, this isn't The Matrix Revolutions. But viewers new to the series may wonder why the green aliens are constantly talking about "the Claw". An attempt to bridge this gap is made when they first arrive at the daycare. The aliens point at a construction vehicle toy with a claw and say "The Claw!" to establish that connection with new viewers.
