True Romance is a 1993 movie written by [[
Lonely, mentally ill nerd Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) meets call girl Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette), who fall head over heels for each other. They marry, but Alabama’s pimp Drexl Spivey (Gary Oldman) continues to harass her, wanting her back under his employ. Clarence kills Drexl and unwittingly steals a suitcase full of cocaine. The two lovers go in the run, and plan to sell the drugs to big shot movie producer Lee Donowitz (Saul Rubinek), while pursued by both the mob and the police.
The movie is notable, beyond its star-launching casting, for being the film that put Tarantino's writing on the Hollywood map. Additionally, it is fairly well-known (and well-liked) within the movie industry, given all the stars in it; but it isn't widely known, except among Tarantino fans.
