You play as Tux the Penguin as you race him down various icy slopes of a big mountain trying to establish a fast course time. Powerups take the form of tasty herring. The game was originally open source before becoming proprietary. However, a fork of the game titled ''Extreme Tux Racer'', formerly known as ''Planet Penguin Racer'', remains open source to this day.
