* [[The Book of Revelation]] is often described as terrifying because of this. Not much of what John of Patmos is describing about the future makes any sense, and if we take his words literally it is still terrifying. A common interpretation of christians that believe the book is for real is that he was shown a future thousands of years ahead of him, so there wasn't simply any words in greek of the 1st century to accurately describe what he saw. It doesn't help the beginning of the book is just average letters to churches in Asia Minor, so the [[Mood Whiplash]] kicks in hard.
