* [[Alternate Character Interpretation]]: Compressing Johnny Cash's life into a few hours makes him come off like kind of a [[Jerkass]] sometimes. The most prominent example would be appearing to lose interest in his wife and children only a few scenes after begging her to marry him (actually a period of over a decade). Also, some of his attempts to romance June come off poorly without context.

* [[Crowning Music of Awesome]]: Pretty much every song, and the actors did a surprisingly good job at mimicking the styles of their characters.
