Where does the page quote come from?

The only hits Google turns up are all the versions of this page on the various wikis. Does anyone know where it originally came from?

SelfCloak (talkcontribs)

I checked the TVT page's edit history and I found a thread that has the source. It's from The True-Born Englishman by Daniel Defoe.

The Pict and painted Britain, treacherous Scot
By hunger, theft, and rapine hither brought
Norwegian pirates, buccaneering Dane
Whose red-haired offspring everywhere remain
Who joined with Norman French, compound the breed
From whence your True Born Englishmen proceed

It turns out the page quote is a bastardized misquote. The original lines have nothing to do with the trope.

Thanks for digging it up when I didn't have the opportunity. Yeah, not quite what the trope is about, but the two relevant lines are still close enough for now, although we should probably look for something better.

Needs a better page quote

As noted below, despite selective editing, the current page quote really has nothing at all to do with the trope. Can anyone suggest anything better?

Deleted page quote. Someone else can deal with coming up with a more appropriate one.
