* Okay, so just watching the show for the first time (after ''years'' of putting it off), and I've reached season 5. And suddenly Buffy's dad has run off with his secretary. Now, in all his appearances so far or mentions of him, it was implied that the break-up between the parents was fairy amicable. What's more, he quite clearly still adored Buffy so why the hell would he just up and leave when he clearly ''likes'' spending time with his daughter? He's never been shown to be an asshole before. Is this just supposed to be [[Handwaved]] as an effect of Dawn's sudden appearance?
** Mid-life crisis? Remarried? Joyce and him were just faking being amicable for the good of the children, and reached the point where they couldn't hide the bitterness anymore? Secretary was actually some type of mind-controlling succubus demon? The possibilities are endless.
** However, one unanswered question actually does relate directly to Dawn. Buffy is legally of age when Joyce dies, but Dawn is still a minor. ''Where's the child support, Hank?!?''
*** Hell, where's the custody? Unless Joyce specifically wrote in her will 'And Hank gets Dawn back not ''even'' over my dead body', custody would revert first to the surviving parent before appointing her older sister as legal guardian. Season 6 has several unanswered questions that are really explainable only by Hank Summers having either pre-deceased Joyce or ended up in jail or a fugitive expat in Brazil, but something like that should have been mentioned.
