* Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Casper just a lonely ghost with little to know social skills in need of a friend right away or is he a Stalker with a Crush who practically manipulated Dr. Harvey and Kat to come here, the latter of which already didn't like moving all over the country as it is. While he doesn't try to hurt Kat, some of the stuff he does, borderlines on creepy. He uses Carrigan's need for the ghosts to leave to his advantage to contact the Harveys. He uses the opportunity of the Ghostly Trio away on business to get them over the house long enough to get settled in. When Kat decides to unknowingly sleep in Casper's room, he treats it like he's already scored. ("There's a girl on my bed. YES!!") Though despite those and her initial fear of him as a ghost, she manages to get along with him just fine, even curious about his life as a ghost. However after that, it gets even creepier. He gets jealous, when Vic asks Kat out, tries to convince Kat of reasons she should take him to the dance and even kidnaps her against her will taking her to a lighthouse. A touching scene because they enjoy the view, but it's still a high building she wouldn't be able to climb down should he just up and leave her there. He also watches her sleep, kisses her while she's sleeping and sleeps at the foot of her bed. The only thing that doesn't make him an outright Yandere is, when he has to choose between coming back to life and helping Dr. Harvey who recently died. He helps Harvey out in the end. Which in turn allows him to become temporarily human, so that he may share a dance with Kat
* Special Effects Failure: Accounted for in the sequels, where the ghosts have robotic movements, choppy animation and face-plant smack in the middle of the Uncanny Valley.
** The first movie, while with no real problems with the ghosts themselves occur, ILM never animated reflections for them.
