[[Deus Ex Machina]] is the common term for a trope in which something not previously established (originally, a god) suddenly appears to resolve the plot. It's an old enough term that it's used here in the wiki. It's also surprisingly punnable, and that's what's going on here.
It's not just snowclones -- similarly named tropes like [[Deus Est Machina]] are not about shoehorning plot resolution and are thus not included.
