''SVU'' focused on the investigation and arrest of the rapist, while ''Trial by Jury'' focused on the trial. (There was some discontinuity here. At the end of ''SVU'', the case was declared a slamdunk. At the beginning of ''TBJ'', the case became a sure loser.)
