** Borderline example, Maester Mika in ''[[Final Fantasy X]]'', who is the Pope of a [[Religion of Evil]]. Effectively commits suicide near the end of the game.
* Jie Revorse in ''[[Star Ocean 1|Star Ocean]]''.
