Founded in 1991 almost by accident by Ben "Gryphon" Hutchins and the individual knownwho onlylegally asrenamed himself [[His Name Really Is "Barkeep"|"MegaZone"]], [[Eyrie Productions, Unlimited]] is the writers' collective responsible for the classic [[Mega Crossover]] [[Fanfic]] ''[[Undocumented Features]]'', but also responsible for a half-dozen or so other works (all on a somewhat smaller scale). EPU is particularly infamous among a segment of ''[[Neon Genesis Evangelion]]'' fandom for their anti-nihilistic [[Reconstruction]] of ''NGE'', ''[[Neon Exodus Evangelion]]''. However, this is to be expected -- they are experts at reconstructing works, and give every story a liberal portion of [[Rule of Cool]].
Their trademarks include a free-wheeling style liberally laced with pop-culture references, an optimistic approach to their plots and worlds, a tremendous amount of imagination applied to dovetailing the various elements of their story universes, and -- perhaps most importantly -- the shameless use of [[Self-Insert Fic|self-insert characters]] (although this last is by no means a constant throughout all their fics).▼
