Named after what Microsoft calls its minor Windows upgrades, and, of course, [[Fan Service]]. (In fact, a service pack or patch is often used to pull this off in video games.) When this is done on purpose to an [[Action Girl]] as [[Character Development]], it's an [[Adrenaline Makeover]]. Compare [[Beautiful All Along]] and [[Progressively Prettier]], which is when this happens to characters who are initially not supposed to be considered attractive, and [[Self Fanservice]], when fan works reshape an unattractive character into a beautiful one.

* The Major had a breast-size-upgrade between The first season of ''[[Ghost in Thethe Shell: Stand Alone Complex]]'' and ''<nowiki>SAC: 2nd GiG</nowiki>''. She also started to wear pants, around the same time, so this goes both ways. She gets a new body between the two seasons, and openly state that she's working for the government because it gives her access to the most expensive prostheses. Which means that she actually gave ''herself'' a [[Fan Service Pack]].

* The Major had a breast-size-upgrade between The first season of ''[[Ghost in The Shell Stand Alone Complex]]'' and ''<nowiki>SAC: 2nd GiG</nowiki>''. She also started to wear pants, around the same time, so this goes both ways. She gets a new body between the two seasons, and openly state that she's working for the government because it gives her access to the most expensive prostheses. Which means that she actually gave ''herself'' a [[Fan Service Pack]].
* Though it was in the outfits only, several of the seven {{spoiler|surviving members of the Northern Campaign}} in ''[[Claymore]]'' went from the skin-tight but fairly conservative Claymore uniforms to black uniforms that flash a bit of thigh post [[Time Skip]], and along with a few skirts one basically wears a leotard and no pants with [[Zettai Ryouiki]].
* Nami from ''[[One Piece]]'' slowly developed her rack from modest beginnings into a set the likes of which most real women would be hard pressed to match. She also lost a considerable amount of girth from her waist and widened a bit in the hips. [[Word of God]] states that this is because she is a maturing young woman...which doesn't explain why her breasts have been so inconsistent, varying in size widely (although generally gaining in mass on average) for the last number of years. [[The Movie|The Movies]]s generally up the [[Gainaxing]] and shoot for the largest chest size they can get away with.
** ''[[One Piece Strong World]]'', the tenth movie, is notable in that Nami gets a [[Fan Service Pack]] by the end of the movie. Her bust size is noticeably larger at the end than it was in the beginning.
* In ''[[Mahou Sensei Negima]]'', it isn't so much that the characters are getting more attractive, so much as we [[Incredibly Lame Pun|*cough*]] [[Fan Service|see more of them]] as the series progresses. Of course, Negi's class as a whole ''is'' a fan service pack to begin with...
** It should be noted that as the series progresses, the girls get more and more excuses to dress in casual/fetish clothes; a school trip, school festival, [[Beach Episode|summer vacation]]...
** It also explicitly notes when Yuna undergoes a growth spurt, which becomes the source of a large (*wince*) amount of humor later on.
* A variety occurs in ''[[Kamichu!]]'', where Matsuri becomes a lot more well-endowed in the manga that was based on the anime, in line with the overall enhanced [[Fan Service]].
* Fatina from ''[[The Tower of Druaga (Animeanime)|The Tower of Druaga]]'' gets a skimpier new outfit and a bust upgrade in season 2.
* Near the end of the ''[[Ranma One Half|Ranma 1/2½]]'' manga, Akane - whomAkane—whom the other girls, Ranma included, consider flat chested (even if it's just by comparison) -- is very happy about having "grown up". She doesn't even mind if no one else notices, it'll be her secret pride. But then her pride and happiness are shattered when Ranma, who had always been better built, turns out to have grown up ''too''...
** The ''Ranma'' movies are particularly infamous for this, not only universally inflating bust sizes, but in some cases providing plot-related reasons to get all the girls—including Ranma—into bikinis and skimpy dresses.
* ''[[Bastard!!]]'''s female character's bust size slowly but steadily increase over time. The latest issues have taken this to truly over-the-top heights.
* Every single character in ''[[Katekyo Hitman Reborn]]'' due in part to [[Art Evolution]]. Most noticable with the main character Tsuna who changes from a goofy [[Butt Monkey]] into a cute little boy and Xanxus who looks like he had a chin job during the [[Time Skip]].
* ''[[Risky SafetyRisky☆Safety]]'' had two episodes where the titular pair turned the story of Momotaro into a [[Space Opera]]. During the "story" parts of the episodes, Risky was shown as being a lot bustier than she really is. Not only that, but at one point there were two [[Male Gaze|worm's eye shots]] of her: one from the front, and one from the back.
* Amelia in ''[[Slayers]]<nowiki>:</nowiki> The Hourglass of Falces'' got a bust upgrade and swapped out her old pants for a miniskirt. The change is so noticeable that before the story begins proper, an [[Omake]] has to explain why.
* In the beginning of ''[[Chrono Crusade]]'', Rosette has a uniform that isn't too unbelievable for a nun -- anun—a baggy blue dress that's only lent shape by an ammo belt around her waist, and bloomers that go down to her ankles. However, when she moves up a class in the Order and gets her new militia uniform, her uniform is changed to have her wear a corset and a skirt that's slit nearly to her waist, as well as a short pair of bloomers that might as well be ruffly booty shorts. The anime takes this even further, appearing to increase her cup size and discarding the bloomers entirely for a pair of tight, white panties.
* In ''[[D .Gray Man-man]]'', villainess Road Kamelot began as sort of a creepy, almost inhuman looking little monster. Roughly 170 chapters later, she's shed some of the more blatant aspects to her design (though kept just enough to still hit that fetish), traded in her dress for a form-fitting outfit, gained features that are smoother and more natural looking, with the result being that a character who was initially pretty disturbing in appearance has ended up really cute.
* ''[[Ergo Proxy]]''. Vincent Law started out as a [https://web.archive.org/web/20130701204017/http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/images/editorials/ergoproxy7.jpg male definition of] [[Moe]], but as the series wore on, he started getting less meek and more comfortable {{spoiler|in his godhood,}} and [http://www.nautiljon.com/images/perso/grandes/Ergo_Proxy/vincent_law.jpg he started looking nicer too.]{{Dead link}}
* Miu of ''[[Kenichi: theThe Mightiest Disciple]]'' already had large-ish round breasts, but it was at least somewhat in proportion. Even by chapter 267, [http://www.mangafox.com/manga/history_s_strongest_disciple_kenichi/v29/c267/ no change]. Then they started to up her cup sizes. Chapter 278, [http://www.mangafox.com/manga/history_s_strongest_disciple_kenichi/v31/c278/4.html somewhat bigger]. By ch. 292, [http://www.mangafox.com/manga/history_s_strongest_disciple_kenichi/v32/c292/2.html she's bigger than] [[Sexy Mentor|Shigure]]. By 305, [http://www.mangafox.com/manga/history_s_strongest_disciple_kenichi/v33/c305/12.html it's getting kinda silly.] By 421, we've gone [https://web.archive.org/web/20111012092421/http://www.mangafox.com/manga/history_s_strongest_disciple_kenichi/v43/c421/8.html above and beyond silly.]

* [[DC Comics]] has {{media-|amanda_waller_frame_3037.jpg| Amanda Waller}}.
* [[X-Men (Comic Book)|Kitty Pryde]] has always been cute (if sometimes showing dubious taste in costumes) but definitely got hotter over the years. It helped that she was allowed to age over time, gradually going from a 13 year-old [[Tagalong Kid]] to a a sexy, confident 20-something. This culminated with her appearance in [[Joss Whedon]]'s ''Astonishing X-Men'', where she had an unexpectedly risque nude scene and finally got around to sleeping with Colossus after almost 30 years.
* Marrow from ''[[X-Men (Comic Book)|X-Men]]'' came by this through artist fiat. Then they did it plot-wise. She's healed from injuries in a Skrull medical chamber and of course comes out that much hotter. ''Slightly'' handwaved in that her skeletal structure is very malleable (it's her power) but still.
** [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/45/Rachel_Summers.jpg Rachel Summers]{{Dead link}} started out in ''Uncanny X-Men'' as a skinny woman with a crew cut and a penchant for leotards and legwarmers (probably since it was the 80s). After a Wolverine-related injury, she was taken to Spiral's otherdimensionalother-dimensional "Body Shoppe" and subjected to a never-elaborated-upon process (the Body Shoppe usually specialized in cybernetics), so that when she reappeared in ''[[Excalibur (Comic Book)|Excalibur]]'' she looked like a [[Most Common Superpower|porn star]] and wore a spike-studded red leather catsuit (granted she had a mullet, but to be fair, it was the 90s). She also wore a similar catsuit in flashback (when she was a brainwashed slave of the anti-mutant Sentinels) though that was more a case of [[Evil Is Sexy]] / [[Evil Costume Switch]].
* Duela Dent, was never that much of a looker, back when she first appeared, at times looking disturbingly like [http://www.comicvine.com/duela-dent/29-5939/all-images/108-212421/73945-duela-dent/105-225753/ a transsexual] version of [[The Joker]]. Her [http://www.comicvine.com/duela-dent/29-5939/all-images/108-212421/duela_dent__05__001__01_/105-894165/ more] [http://www.comicvine.com/duela-dent/29-5939/all-images/108-212421/duela_ale/105-1390329/ recent] [http://www.comicvine.com/duela-dent/29-5939/all-images/108-212421/0000/105-517596/ appearances] on the other hand definitely portray her as "crazy hot".
* Sally Acorn from ''[[Sonic the Hedgehog (Comic Bookcomics)|Sonic the Hedgehog]]'' and ''[[Sonic the Comic]]''. At first in ''[[Sonic the Comic]]'', she was not that hot at all. She was only slighty feminine in the Archie comic at first. Then the new artist changed the character design, making her far more feminine.

* Happens a ''lot'' in [[Fanfic]], especially when a character has spent some time apart from the rest of the cast. In ''[[Harry Potter]]'' fandom, this tends to be signalledsignaled by the [[Stock Phrases]] "changed over the summer" and "[[Curves in All Thethe Right Places]]".

Justified in that the actors grew up along with the series, but the filmmakers dodid seem to delight in getting Hermione dolled up, putting Harry in bubble baths, and putting muscle shirts on Ron in the later films.

* Chloe O'Brian, ''[[Twenty Four (TV)|Twenty Four]]''.
* Through some kind of time-travel wackiness, Trance from ''[[Andromeda]]'' went from being a purple alien babe to a scaly, autumn-colored babe. It may have been one of those things to make the makeup easier on the actress. But she was about equally hot in either form, really.
* Willow in ''[[Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV)|Buffy the Vampire Slayer]]''. Her wardrobe started off decidedly frumpy, as though she had been dressed by her mom, then became progressively trendier, moving on to cute. This was half [[Executive Meddling]] (with corresponding [[Writer Revolt]]) and half intentional on the part of the writers to show her becoming more outgoing and so forthconfident as she grew up.
* Meadow Soprano in ''[[The Sopranos]]''. To such an extent that her first post-18th episode in Season 3 has her in a bikini.
* Quinn in ''[[Zoey 101]]'', who started as a [[Hollywood Homely]] [[ExtravertedExtroverted Nerd]].
* Lisa Zemo of ''[[Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide]]'', via a new round of powerful anti-histamines and contact lenses.
* Gabrielle on ''[[Xena: Warrior Princess]]'' managed to wear less and less clothing as the series went on. She started in a ankle length skirt and poofy sleeves and ended in a miniskirt and what is essentially a bra. Xena, remarkably, maintained the same basic level of coverage. Which took her from being pretty exposed to relatively modest when compared to her sidekick.
* Elliot Reid from ''[[Scrubs (TV)|Scrubs]]'' started as a cute nerd and became a hottie during season 3 due to demands.
* Pam Beesly from ''[[The Office (TV)|The Office]]'', in season 4, after she officially became {{spoiler|Jim's girlfriend}} and pledged to be a more assertive person. She gets rid of the ponytail and wears more stylish clothes.
* Ziva in ''[[NCIS (TV)|NCIS]]'' from the season six opener on.
* Elaine Benes, ''[[Seinfeld (TV)|Seinfeld]]''.
* Djaq from ''[[Robin Hood (TV series)|Robin Hood]]'', who starts as a [[Sweet Polly Oliver]] with a crew cut and bulky clothes, and ends as a drop-dead gorgeous Saracen noblewoman.
* ''[[The Shield]]''. Depending on which end of the facial hair debate you fall under, Ronnie Gardocki trading in his nerdy mustache for a full-on beard counts.
* ''[[Inspector Lynley]]''. Barbara Havers, despite [[Adaptational Attractiveness|being played by]] the gorgeous [[Sharon Small]], spent the run of the show up through series four going around in baggy sweaters and oversized coats, and with very short hair. In series five she shows up with hair well past her shoulders and wearing much more form-fitting clothes.
* Debra Barone on ''[[Everybody Loves Raymond (TV)|Everybody Loves Raymond]]''.
* Freddie Benson from ''[[I Carly (TV)|I CarlyiCarly]]''. He went from being a young [[Stalker Withwith a Crush]] to being a rather attractive young man.
** Sam and her transformation that started in Season 3.
** And though Carly herself was pretty attractive to begin with, as time went on... ''whoa.''

And Solid Snake himself. He was average-to-good-looking in the concept art for ''[[Metal Gear 1987 (Videovideo Gamegame)|Metal Gear 1987]]'' and pretty ugly and middle-aged in ''[[Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake (Video Game)|Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake]]'', but in ''[[Metal Gear Solid (Video Game)|Metal Gear Solid]]'' he was entirely redesigned and ended up completely ''smoking''.

* In ''[[Knights of the Old Republic]]'', The Handmaiden starts out wearing a sensible white outfit that, while being a little tighter than would occur in reality, did cover her from head to toe. Challenge her to a duel, and she shows up in her underwear (Echani tradition dictates fighting duels in the nude, but the game is T-rated).
** Turn her to the Dark Side and she'll start going for a slightly goth-ish look as well, which works surprisingly well with her [[White -Haired Pretty Girl]] nature.
* The ''[[Neverwinter Nights]]'' module creating community has several ''literal'' fan service packs, especially the hacks that accompany ''[[A Dance With Rogues]]''.
* As seen in the page picture, Sylvanas Windrunner's original model in ''[[World of Warcraft]]'' was not only incorrect to what she was (millions of players who didn't read the manual were left thinking she were a Night Elf instead of a High Elf), but not particularly sexy. "We can't have this on our undead elf [[Dark Action Girl]]", said [[Blizzard Entertainment]] and changed her for the better. Now she looks much closer to her ''Warcraft III'' [http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081005143430/wowwiki/images/e/e9/SylvanasWar3UD.JPG model.]
Line 84 ⟶ 78:
** Prior to the first [[Expansion Pack]], all High Elves used recolored (and ugly-as-hell) Night Elf models. Some still do.
* Joanna Dark from ''[[Perfect Dark]]'' went from looking like [http://perfectdark.retropixel.net/pd/renders/jodark_pd_08.jpg this] in the first game, to looking like [http://perfectdark.retropixel.net/pdzero/renders/jodark_pdz_07_sm.jpg this] in the second one. And the second game was a ''prequel''. Maybe she had them reduced for stealth purposes.
* Alia as of ''[[Mega Man X (Video Game)|Mega Man X]] 8''. She [[Letting Her Hair Down|let her hair down]], received an "upgrade" that gave her large breasts, [[Optional Party Member|among]] [[Took a Level Inin Badass|other]] [[Rescued Fromfrom the Scrappy Heap|things...]]
* Taokaka in ''[[Blaz BlueBlazBlue]]'' has more noticeable... assets in the sequel. Which is [[The Faceless|kind of an odd choice for a character to apply this trope to]].
** The "''kitten''" is [[She Is's All Grown Up|growing up]], maybe? In one week of in-universe time?
* Trish from ''[[Devil May Cry]]'' seems to get bustier with each new game appearance. In the original game, she looked like [http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/File:Trish_1.jpg this,]{{Dead link}} for her reappearance in the fourth game, she looked like [http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/File:Trish0.jpg this,]{{Dead link}} with a noticeably more buxom bust {{spoiler|(moreso in her guise as [http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/File:Gloria00.jpg Gloria])}}, and now in ''[[Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Video Game)|Marvel vs. Capcom 3]]'' she looks like [http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/File:Trish_MvsC3-FTW.PNG this.]{{Dead link}}
** Lady changed quite a bit physically between ''[[Devil May Cry]] 3'' and ''[[Devil May Cry]] 4'', growing a couple of breast sizes and shrinking her clothes a couple of sizes too. It would seem that any woman who is around Dante for more then a day gets progressively sexier by default.
* With the more recent ''[[Final Fantasy]]'' games getting sequels, this has started happening in the newer games.
** ''[[Final Fantasy X-2 (Video Game)|Final Fantasy X-2]]'' has two examples in Yuna & Rikku. In ''[[Final Fantasy X (Video Game)|Final Fantasy X]]'', Rikku wears a vest & hotpants, but trades that for a thong/bikini miniskirt combo in the sequel - In fact, her X-2 costume is the image on the [[Dangerously -Short Skirt]] page. Yuna, on the other hand, goes from a conservatively dressed (Albeit with black bra showing) summoner, to hot pants & an [[Absolute Cleavage]] baring halter top complete with the Zanarkand Abes logo hanging there.
** Penelo in the sequel of ''[[Final Fantasy XII (Video Game)|Final Fantasy XII]]'', ''[[Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings|Revenant Wings]]'', wears less clothing and gets more screentime. Though admittedly she is wearing her ''Revenant Wings'' costume in the ending sequence of ''FFXII''.
** Serah Farron from ''[[Final Fantasy XIII (Video Game)|Final Fantasy XIII]]'' & ''[[Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Video Game)|XIII-2]]''. In ''[[Final Fantasy XIII (Video Game)|Final Fantasy XIII]]'' Serah spends most of the game as a crystal (It's a long story) & whilst clearly designed to be cute, doesn't really wear anything more revealing than a Type A [[Zettai Ryouiki]] - Actually making her the most conservatively dressed of the major characters. Come [[Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Video Game)|the sequel]]; and Serah's now wearing a very tight & very short dress, still rocking the [[Zettai Ryouiki]], and has, depending on your interpretation, either [[Hidden Buxom|started showing off her cleavage]] or has "developed" since the first game.
* Irene Lew from ''[[Ninja Gaiden]]'' {{spoiler|and ''[[Dead or Alive]]''}}, started out as a modestly attractive brunette in the original NES trilogy, then graduates into a tall, shapely, blonde [[Action Girl]] with [[Absolute Cleavage]] in the newer ''[[Ninja Gaiden]]'' {{spoiler|and ''[[Dead or Alive]]''}} games.
* When Nintendo was making ''[[Ocarina of Time]]'', they were originally going to give Link a character design similar to the one in ''[[A Link to The Past]]'' and ''[[Links Awakening]]''. [http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/zelda-ocarina-of-time/1/7 Then the wife of the man in charge of the character designs, Yoshiaki Koizumi, asked if he could redesign him to be better looking.] [[Throw It In|He complied.]]
{{quote| '''Aonuma:''' So Link is your wife's type?<br />

* [[Nintendo]] redesigned Tiny Kong from the ''[[Donkey Kong]]'' game series in this fashion.
* In ''[[Mass Effect 1 (Videovideo Gamegame)|Mass Effect 1]]'', Ashley Williams was an uptight hair-bundled-at-all-times [[Sergeant Rock]]. In ''[[Mass Effect 3 (Video Game)|Mass Effect 3]]'', she [[Letting Her Hair Down|let her hair down]] and started wearing form-fitting combat clothing with [[Zettai Ryouiki]] (it's painted on, so there is no actual skin exposure) instead of bulky armor. But then again, she did [[Rank Up|earn]] a right to a [[Custom Uniform]]...

* Haley from ''[[Order of the StickThe (Webcomic)|Order of the Stick]]'', when she decided that [http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0675.html "some flaunting is in order"].
* One of the newer characters in ''[[Khaos Komix]]'', Colin, got a reboot after a few pages. His original design resembled another character, Tom, a bit too much for comfort. The artist edited his previous images with his new design, though it looks somewhat awkward.

* [[The Nostalgia Critic (Web Video)|The Nostalgia Critic]] went from a typically lazy, chubby, kinda old-looking nerd who didn't know how to dress himself to someone who is actually quite well put-together. Bear in mind that we're not talking about his sanity.

* Foxxy Love in ''[[Drawn Together]]'' had permanently erect nipples in Seasons 2 and 3 (in Season 1 they were erect only in tense moments).
* Parodied in ''[[The Venture Brothers]]'', when Brock Samson's [[Drill Sergeant Nasty|old mentor]] gets an [[Easy Sex Change]]. Played straight with Dr. Mrs. The Monarch's costume change.
* In ''Batman:[[Batman: The Animated Series]]'', D. A. Janet Van Dorn goes from [http://worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/bios/vandorne/01.jpg middle-aged] in her first appearance to [http://worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/bios/vandorne/04.jpg hot enough] to date Bruce Wayne by the next.
** Inverted in the cases of Catwoman and Poison Ivy, who became significantly less human-looking (and hence, less hot) in the transition from B:TAS to The New Batman Adventures.
* After the incident with Asteroid M in ''[[X -Men: Evolution]]'', Mystique ended up changing from her comic outfit into a leather crop top, miniskirt, and matching high-heeled boots. There are a few who might think she was better before, or that each form had its ups and downs.
* Zuko in ''[[Avatar: The Last Airbender (Animation)|Avatar: The Last Airbender]]''. In the first season, he has his hair in a military style that makes the [[Facial Horror|huge burn scar covering half his face]] stand out starkly. As a result, his [[Expository Hairstyle Change]] after some [[Character Development]] ''massively'' improves his looks, much to the joy of the fangirls.
* Got a whole episode [[Lampshade Hanging|lampshade]] and [[Justified Trope|justification]] in ''[[The Real Ghostbusters]]'' for Janine's between-seasons model change.
