As the name implies, it features [[An Ice Person|Sub-Zero]] in his quest to stop [[Evil Sorcerer|Quan Chi]], who wants to retrieve an [[MacGuffin|amulet]] which would revive [[God of Evil|Shinnok]]. It also introduced (and [[Retcon|retconned]]) several characters who would later appear in [[Fighting Game]] installments such as the aforementioned Sub-Zero, Quan Chi, and Shinnok as well as Sub-Zero's rival [[Kill It with Fire|Scorpion]], Sub-Zero's clan Lin Kuei, and [[Amazon Brigade|the demonnesses Sareena, Kia and Jataaka]]. Other characters which are featured in the game are [[Physical God|Physical Gods]] [[Shock and Awe|Raiden]] and [[Blow You Away|Fujin]].
