work
* Acceptable Ethnic Targets: The token Irish immigrant is a filthy drunk.
* Alternate Character Interpretation: Plenty. Mostly centering around Agent Edgar Ross. Is he a good man whose callous behavior comes from his never ending fight against truly fucked up criminals that plague the wild west, or is he a sociopathic thug who uses law and order as an excuse for his unpleasant behavior?
* Base Breaker: While many consider Herbert Moon the Ensemble Darkhorse, many hate him to an extent that they consider him this. He is truly the love him or hate him character of Red Dead Redemption.
* Catharsis Factor: After
* Critical Research Failure: Everything Professor MacDougal does is rife with this, as a representation of "science" during that time.
* Crowning Music of Awesome:
Line 45 ⟶ 46:
** A nice time saving bug is that you can skip the skinning animation by having your horse stand on top of the animal carcass.
* Hell Is That Noise: Can happen when you hear certain wild animals for the first time but can't see them, and they don't sound too happy to meet you. Recognizing what animals made the sounds lead to Oh Crap moments. Also, sometimes a woman will scream bloody murder, and you know something is terribly wrong.
* He's Just Hiding:
* Jerkass Woobie: Dutch van der Linde is an insane, murderous outlaw who will happily kill at the drop of a hat. But it's clear when you corner him that he's a broken man whose mind has been destroyed by the ongoing death of the outlaw lifestyle he loves so much. And if you've played the second game, it's even sadder to see him like this because it's clear that also contributed to his downward spiral
* Literary Agent Hypothesis: Some speculate that the story is the story Jack writes about his father, as seen in the WMG section.
* Magnificent Bastard: Depending on your interpretation of her character,
Line 56 ⟶ 58:
*** Elaboration on that?
** And over on GameFAQs they seem to have this nasty habit of interrupting people mid-sent* COUGAR'D*
* Moral Event Horizon: While he was still a dick in the prequel, Bill Williamson wasn't irredeemably awful. That changed by the time of this game, where he's lost himself to the Rape, Pillage and Burn mindset of infamous criminals such as Micah Bell and the O'Driscoll gang.
** Edgar Ross also crosses this by
* Most Annoying Sound: Any citizen crying for help for the 50th time.
** Say it with me: "WORK, YA DAMN NAG!"
* Paranoia Fuel:
** Cougars, the ninjas of the west.
