No matter what range of emotion you're feeling towards another character, the best way to express it is to say their name--preferablyname—preferably in either a hoarse whisper or [[Chewing the Scenery|scenery-chomping]] cry. Even if no one's around to hear you, just ''thinking'' about that character is enough of a prompt. It's all but required if you're in the midst of rescuing your [[True Companions]]/[[Love Interest]] currently facing [[Damsel in Distress|imminent doom]], you're [[Meadow Run|running towards each other]] in romantic rapture, or when [[Arch Enemy|your mortal enemy]] has simply gone too far. Sometimes those last two [[Foe Yay|get confused]].

** To get specific, Inuyasha says Kagome's name 568 times in the whole series, while Kagome says Inyuasha's '''971''' times--thetimes—the majority of both being screams. Out of 167 episodes.

** Jagi is particularly fond of this trope. He also adds emphasis in the translated ''[[Dynasty Warriors|Hokuto Musou]]'': "[[Say My Name]], [[This Is for Emphasis, Bitch|bitches!]]"

* ''[[Digimon Adventure]]'' has an episode where Taichi and Yamato manage to knock each other off a cliff. Taichi manages to grab on to the cliff with one hand while Yamato grabs onto him with one hand. [[Say My Name]] ensues.

** ''[[Digimon Adventure]]'' does this kind of thing a lot, several of the first evolutions to Champion level (at least) were proceeded by a round (or two) of [[Say My Name]] between the kids and their partner digimon.

* ''[[Earth X]]'' has an unusual example: Uatu the Watcher has spent thirteen issues referring to [[Ridiculously-Human Robots|Machine Man]], aka Aaron Stack, by his model number, X-51, to emphasize that he is a robot and should have no loyalty to humanity--indeedhumanity—indeed, no human emotion at all. In the final issue, after being cut off from his sensory feed and left helpless, Uatu calls after him pleadingly: "X-51? X-51, ''please''. ...Aaron?"

* Parodied in ''[[The IT Crowd]]'': Douglas Reynholm bursts into his father's [[The Fun in Funeral|funeral]], takes off his sunglasses, gets his bearings, and [[Incoming Ham|when he's sure he's got everyone's attention]]] lets out an anguished "FATHEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!"

* Curious variation in ''[[The Tudors]]'': Since nobody calls Henry by his name, for obvious reasons, the show has treated us to more than one somewhat [[Narm|narmfulnarm]]ful shot of people desperately shouting "Majesty!" as they are dragged off to the Tower of London or just snubbed by the king.
