Sony's Spider-Man Universe (also known as the SSU, and formerly known as Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters or SPUMC) is a cinematic universe created by Sony after spin-offs of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were canceled. The films are based on Spider-Man characters and connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a deal was constructed with Marvel owner Disney. Despite the name Spider-Man is not a character in this universe, though he has been mentioned and referenced on occasion. Instead this franchise focuses on the character associated with Spider-Man, which is mainly his villains though there are plans to focus on the heroes connected to him as well.

* Shared Universe: Sony used this to connect Spider-Man spin-offs.
* Truer to the Text: The characters are more faithful to the comics compared to the previous Spider-Man films.
