*** Of the negative reviews of The Batman, almost all of them make comparisons to BTAS. This is in spite of the fact that the show makes it clear from the outset that it's a very different interpretation of the character.
** Some people are particularly upset at the changing of Mr. Freeze's back story to remove Nora, when Nora was invented for B:TAS and his back story here is more faithful to his first comic book origin.
* Franchise Original Sin: A lot of people have criticized this depiction of Harley Quinn for being too violent and eager to be a supervillain, along with her interpretation of Quinn being a gleeful supervillain to be out of touch with the character who is often depicted as a tragic figure and terribly abused by Joker, especially when Hynden Welch's vocal performance of Harley has her become gleefully evil and violent extremely easily contrasted with Harley's portrayals by Arleen Sorkin and Tara Strong. This issue began in this series, where Harley once again seems to relish being a supervillain and needs very little prompting to accept becoming difficult. However, this was easier to do because Harley was still a new character, since she had debuted only a decade ago, and she only appeared twice in the show, which made the issues with Welch's interpretation of Harley Quinn more obscure. It helped that Joker's abusive tendencies shown in the comics and other iterations were severely played down in this series which made it more easier for this interpretation of Harley to be seen as a one off. However, later interpretations with Welch voicing the character often had Quinn as a gleeful supervillain going along with Joker wholeheartedly despite his horrible treatment of her, not helping in that other continuities have frequently shown that Harley often reforms when Joker is not around, which made Welch's depiction of Harley as a violent psychopath stand out very easily.
* Fridge Brilliance - Clayface is almost always frowning or appears to be frowning, while Joker is always smiling, bearing resemblance to the "Tragedy and Comedy" masks, symbolized even more by .
* Fridge Horror: In the final season episode featuring Wrath and Scorn, .
