Due to your consistent good (and detailed!) edits as well as your willingness to talk to and take advice from the mods, you've been promoted to autopatrolled/automoderated. All your edits currently in the Moderation Queue as well as all your future edits will get applied immediately to the wiki content instead of having to wait for moderator approval. It's an awesome power we're putting in your hands, but we feel we can trust you with it.

Thank you.

... has not yet been approved or rejected. You mentioned that a character having a flip phone instead of an "Iphone" (which I assume is supposed to be an iPhone) makes the show an Unintentional Period Piece.

I now get to point out to you the trope Small Reference Pools, and the May 2024 news articles Going old school: Ottawa teen flips the script on smartphones and Samsung sole winner as US smartphone market hits sixth quarterly decline in a row. Having an iPhone instead of a flip phone would have made the work an unintentional period piece, not the other way around.

Fixguy53ae (talkcontribs)

Hello. When I added that reference about the iPhone being the more recent phone, I was referring to the fact that the 2000s was when the cell phone boom was just beginning and it was based on flip phones, and that for a modern viewer or reader, the cellphone they would be more familiar with is the iPhone. Judging from this, the flip phone does seem to be making a comeback, but it only seems to be a year, which is too early to say if it is a trend, and it is indicated that the surge in flip phones is still relatively small, with iPhones still the more common one. Furthermore, I did not base it solely on the phone. I referred to how all of the protagonists, going by the mentions of their family occupations, are all wealthy, which after the financial crisis would be looked at much more seriously, and the frequent references to nuclear power quite cavalierly, which after the Fukushima disaster in 2011, would be unacceptable in Japan. I would say that the presence, even briefly of a flip phone would still be enough of a giveaway to justify keeping it in the Unintentional Period Piece section.

I have added some new information showing further it is squarely set in the 2000s. Will that suffice?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

We'll let you know when we have time to look at the moderation queue again.

And looked at, and okayed.

And I just noticed the word-choice error I made in the thread title... Sorry about dragging marine mammals into this.

... because down at the very bottom it's been corrupted by the Visual Editor again. Can you please resubmit the new text through the source editor ("Edit source" on the menu that appears at the top of every page in most skins)?

@Fixguy53ae {{admins))

Fixguy53ae (talkcontribs)

Odd, I recall using source editor for all those edits. Anyhow, I put it all back in with source, and the alert did not trigger, so hopefully that is the end of that mess.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

That time there was no corruption, so I've approved it.

... because you gave no indication as to why ignoring logistics during a military campaign is not idiotic.

If there was an error of fact in the paragraph that you wanted to delete, you have to identify it.

...not because you did anything wrong, but because you appear to have made the changes using the Visual Editor, and the Visual Editor has been known to corrupt the source for pages on which it's used -- which is what happened in this case. If you would like to resubmit your edits using the Source Editor they'll likely get almost instant approval. If you didn't save a copy of your edits, we can recover them, and either insert them for you or make them available for you to resubmit.

Let us know what you want to do.

Fixguy53ae (talkcontribs)

Alright, I will try again with the source editor.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

As promised, your edit to "Franchise Original Sin" has been approved. While it wasn't instant, it was done within 24 hours of submission... which gives you an idea of our turnaround time.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Ah, yeah, "instant" was a bit of hyperbole I shouldn't've used. My apologies.

Your proposed edit to "Deceased Fall Guy Gambit" has been rejected in Moderation...

... for the same reason as your edit to "Franchise Original Sin" was -- the Visual Editor corrupted the page source when you saved your changes. Please resubmit it using the source editor ("Edit source" on the top-of-page menu) instead.
