Line 130:
** Exemplified during Miranda's loyalty mission in the sequel, at one point, Miranda and Shepard are stopped by an Eclipse lieutenant who brags that his men already have shots lined up, and explains that you should give up and walk away. The Renegade interrupt in this sequence has Shepard break the lieutenant's neck before s/he and Miranda (who immediately pulls out her weapon as soon as Shepard makes a move) take down several enemies by using environmental hazards, which leaves a lone Salarian commando staring in shock at what just happened. He'll still open fire on you once the battle starts without any sign of retreat.
** Honestly, ME 2 is one of the worst offenders in recent times. ''Everybody'' knows you - you are Commander motherf**king Shepard, a person who has personally mowed down armies of baddies and saved the entire galaxy from omnicide. Yet, random merc # 17.001 is still convinced that he can kill you in a few shots. The only one [[Genre Savvy]] enough to notice this is Garrus:
{{quote| '''Garrus:''' The Collectors managed to kill you once and all it did was piss you off. I can't imagine they'll stop you this time.}}
** In fairness, not everyone recognizes Shepard (s/he manages to infiltrate Hock's party without being recognized, not to mention all the times you wear a helmet). Also, I believe the game lampshades it in one mission, where a datapad reads something along the lines of "The intruders have Shepard with them, be careful." Also, playing on high difficulties makes them justifiably confident. Also, enemies like geth (who can simply transmit themselves back into their Collective upon death), husks and Collectors have nothing to fear from death.
*** And to be fair, a lot of people don't believe Shepard came back from the dead.
