This ignores the numerous factors that led Sarah to that action, the two main ones being 1) they're being followed by a Terminator that's seemingly vastly more indestructible than the last one, which was already practically like a force of nature, and she doesn't think she has any other options for stopping the apocalypse, and 2) she actually thinks she's doing John a favor by going off and probably getting herself killed, because she feels that "Uncle Bob" will be a better parent for him than her.
