'''[[Trial By Tenderness]]''' by Cevn is a [[Doorstopper|massively long]] [[Fan Fiction]] based on the Animeanime &and Mangamanga series ''[[Ah! My Goddess]]'' (Created by Kosuke Fujishima). The [[Fanfic]] is (at face-value), about a man from Hawaii [[Anti-Sue|named Cevn]] who makes a wish to a Goddess. That wish then drives over a hundred and sixtyseventy (Asas of 20112016) chapters (!) worth of material, [[Genre Busting|ranging in genre]] from Horror to Comedy and everything in between. ItsIt's definitely tipped towards the cynical side of the scale, but itsit's also very moving in what ordinary humans are capable of. There are definitely mature topics covered (drug addiction and recovery; sexual and physical abuse; mental illness challenges; and spiritual and societal alienation, just to name a few) which mainly come from the Authorauthor's [[Write What You Know|real life addiction problems]], but with a liberal application of artistic license thrown in.
 
From the author's introductory notes: "Okay...if you dare yourself to read this fanfic, you will be in for a wild ride." He's not kidding.

Oh and just to clear any doubt, this story is a definite [[Doorstopper]]. How long, you might ask? ''OVERNEARLY TWO AND A QUARTER MILLION WORDS''; As one recent review put it: "If we take each novel to be 120,000 words, currently your story can be divided into 18 books." It's even listed on Wikipedia's [[wikipedia:List of longest novels#Longest Self-published and Controversial Novels|list of longest "novels."]]
 
Unfortunately, as of early 2016 the story is still incomplete but no new material has appeared in almost two years; some fear it has become a [[Dead Fic]].
