Big Eater/Anime and Manga: Difference between revisions

*** In a specific example, both he and O'Brien become this temporarily after the first Disclosure Duel, which leaves both of them drained and exhausted; Judai is seen in the nurse's office shoveling down the contents of lunchboxes, while O'Brien is in the Obelisk Dorm eating several platefuls of hamburgers and chicken wings, wondering how one duel could have made him ''so'' hungry.

** Sora in ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V]],'' so much that he flatters Yuma's mom so she'll cook for him, and he's almost always snacking on candy. He's a twig, seeing as he burns it off quickly, having been [[Pint-Sized Powerhouse|trained in military-level fighting skills.]]

* [[Moe Anthropomorphism|America and Italy]] from ''[[Axis Powers Hetalia]]'' love to shovel junk food and pasta down their respective throats.

* ''[[Pokémon (anime)|Pokémon]]'' [[Pokémon (manga)|franchise]]:

** Team Rocket, when they're lucky enough to have enough to pig out on. This nce resulted in a [[Temporary Bulk Change|fat episode]] where they had to work it off.

** Diamond from ''[[Pokémon Special]]'' falls into this category ''all the time'', rarely being seen without something in his mouth. Rather ironic considering his game counterpart Lucas' most prominent physical characteristic is being [[Noodle People|so skinny as to be downright emaciated-looking]].

* Kagura from ''[[Gintama]]'' is constantly snacking on sukonbu. She also eats so much that Gintoki once used her to get out of paying a bill at a place running an "Eat XX amount in XX minutes and it's free!" promo. Gintoki himself is a sugar freak who only cuts back because his doctor told him he was on the verge of diabetes.

* Hatsune from ''[[Zettai Karen Children]]'' eats a whole lot, preferably anything with animal protein, which comes part and parcel with her [[Big Badass Wolf|abilities to transform into a wolf]].

** Boss is another, too.

** Goro Makiba from ''[[UFO Robo Grendizer]]'' also counts.

** Also Gluttony of [[Our Homunculi Are Different|the homunculi.]] He represents [[Seven Deadly Sins|the deadly sin]] he's named after [[Extreme Omnivore|quite literally]], and after {{spoiler|eating him, Pride states having adopted among Gluttony's other abilities his endless hunger.}} It's understandable though, since Gluttony is originally a part of {{spoiler|the Father, who wanted to become [[A God Am I|the perfect being]] by getting rid of the said feelings by giving them to his "children".}} So, in a way, Gluttony is actually the [[Anthropomorphic Personification]] of "Big Eating".

* An unusually dark example is in ''[[Drifting Classroom]]''. Nakata is an insatiable eater. The problems: first, they're in a post apocalyptic wasteland with no way to get more food, so his eating is causing others to starve. Second, when he eats he summons an invincible gigantic insect monster that tries to kill everyone.

* ''[[One Piece]]''

** [[The Hero|Monkey D. Luffy]]. Potentially justified in that A) the fighting he does would require a lot of energy, and B) that his [[Rubber Man|elasticized]] stomach is capable of storing far, FAR more food than a normal human's. At one point, he wakes up after passing out and instantly knows exactly how many meals he missed, (5 per day, apparently) and later gets around this issue by somehow managing to eat while sleeping.<br />It's probably also fueling one of the [[Required Secondary Powers]], seeing as he seems to be able to stretch several times the distance of a football-field and is often extremely hungry after any battle, where he always stretches as part of his battle-style. This way of eating also applies to drinking; he can drink so much he should have water-poisoning. After his brother Sabo died he was barely ate, although in this case it was still twice as much as the people he was with.

** As would Kumadori of [[CP 9]]. Due to his [[Charles Atlas Superpower|intense training,]] he has the ability to [[Master of Your Domain|control his body to a much further extent than ordinary humans can]]. The most prominent ability of his is [[Prehensile Hair]], but the trope-related one is that after being locked in a fridge, he ate everything in it before busting his way out. By the time he escaped, he had digested all of the food, causing his figure to change considerably, then he took a few seconds to just burn off all that fat effortlessly.

** The most extreme example from ''[[One Piece]]'' would be [[Adipose Rex|Wapol]], who has eaten a Devil Fruit that allows him to ''[[Extreme Omnivore|eat anything]]!'' Every time he's seen, the only thing near is other people or he's eating something, including things like houses or cannons. Also, he eats [[I'm a Humanitarian|other people]] if he wants to. When the Straw Hats first meet him, he starts munching on their ship. When he got his own cover-story, he was eating ''entire villages''. He can even eat himself, which makes him skinnier.

** {{spoiler|Big Mom of the Yonko. She eats '''10 TONNES''' of candy every month from Fishman Island ''alone''. She'll even eat [[I'm a Humanitarian|her own subordinates]] if she gets hungry enough and unlike Wapol, these guys [[Cruel and Unusual Death|stay eaten]].}}

** A nicer female example is the anime-only [[Meaningful Name| Lily Ensotmach]], her appetite being the biggest reason for her quick rapport with Luffy. Justified because [[Our Giants Are Different| she's actually a giant]] who can assume human-size due to her ''Mini Mini no Mi'' Devil Fruit power. She even uses a dinner fork as her weapon of choice, as she can cause anything she touches to grow and shrink along with her.

* Yukito Tsukishiro and Keroberos, from ''[[Cardcaptor Sakura]]''. Yukito's excuse is that his body tries to compensate for {{spoiler|not having a source of magical power, and later Sakura not being able to provide enough magical power to keep him in existence due to her extreme youth}}, while Keroberos just likes to eat. Sakura's mother Nadeshiko was one too, being able to finish a large cake in one sitting despite being a frail girl.

* Kullweet Envatilia (or Kuea for short), from ''[[Elemental Gelade]]''.

* Karuta from ''[[Inu x Boku SS]]'', almost always has some to eat in her hand if not she will.

* In ''[[Saint Beast]]'', whenever there's lots of food around Gai tends to stock up his plate immediately.

 

== Fat Characters ==

* Conan's friend Genta in ''[[Detective Conan]]''.

** Also, more than one victim is pretty pudgy and a big eater. {{spoiler|Like the "Baumkuchen" case, in which a fat man is killed via being tricked into eating a piece of his favorite pastry... which had poison.}}

* Kurita from ''[[Eyeshield 21]]''. The man ate 100 cream puffs on one occassion, and I wouldn't doubt it if he was the one who ate the bulk of the 100 servings of beef in a challenge with another team. In an Omake, Kurita ate 4 bowls of rice that are stacked to tower way above the bowl itself with enough food there to feed a large family. '''That's his breakfast.'''

* Chang aka Cyborg 006 from ''[[Cyborg 009]]''. Note that he's a restaurateur with his own business on top of that, and that he also worked in the food industry before being turned into a Cyborg.
