After giving into his impulsive thoughts, Ben Reilly ends up back in the past. Now in a time which he figures out is two years ahead of his birthdate, he has to ensure his parents end up together.
Though he finds because of their current views that this will be harder than he thought.
Tropes used in Blast of the Past include:
- Action Girl: Spider-Woman.
- The Alliance: Toxin and Ben.
- Alternate Universe
- Always Save the Girl: Ben as his current alter-ego does this when he stops Spider-Woman from falling. Doesn’t work that well of course.
- Birds of a Feather: Perenna, Harry, and Gwen.
- Body Snatcher: Averted. Toxin does not try to take over Ben like a regular symbiote.
- Brown Eyes: Ben; and he noted on their first encounter that his mother has ‘brown doe-eyes.’
- Cloning Blues: Averted. Ben Reilly is not a clone in this fic.
