What isn't obvious until part way through the Clear Card arc is that Kaito is also {{supersecretspoilerspoiler|one of the most powerful magicians alive, able to fight Clow Reed to a draw, from a distance, while preventing Clow from contacting Kero-chan, Yue, ''and'' Syaoran. Kaito can reverse the flow of time, rewinding events so that they never happened - a feat that Yue believes less than a half-dozen magicians can achieve. He's presented in the anime as being the [[Big Bad]] of the series - unlike every other magician shown in ''Cardcaptor Sakura'', he does not have Sakura's best interests at heart.}}
