* In the ''[[Scarred Lands]]'' setting, the Slarecian Language Virus is an odd disease or curse (hard to say which) that can infect anyone who tries to use magic or even rudimentary means to decipher the language of the Slarecian, an extinct species of evil sorcerers. An infected victim's language is changed to that of the Slarecians (which is gibberish to most natives of Scarn), meaning hethey can only understand or be understood by another infected victim, and all written language other than Slarecian makes no sense to him. Victims do not realize what has happened to them, as what they say sounds perfectly clear to them. Even worse, this disease is incredibly contagious; anyone who listens to an infected victim risks also risks becoming infected.
