Player opinion tends to be divided over whether he or Lu Xun was the greatest. <ref> Tecmo Koei seems to think he is, though, or at least did around the time of DW4. In that game, every character had a hidden "strategy" statistic that determined how good their troops were against other characters' troops: offensive, defensive and tactical operated on a rock-paper-scissors basis, "normal" (which most NPCs were) lost out to all three and "balance" beat all three. Most strategists, including Shu's Zhuge Liang and Wei's Sima Yi, were "balance"; tellingly, Zhou was also a "balance", while Lu Xun was a "tactical".</ref>
