| Description |
EPA worked to demolish and remove ten wooden boats, one steel tug, and several barges from the former Herman Melville Shipyard to allow the relocation of a marine terminal that was formerly located at the current de-watering area. The boats were removed to make way for the dredging of PCB-contaminated harbor sediment and this effort had additional cleanup benefits for the shoreline as well. Work began in March 2002 and was complete in July 2002. |
