* Dissidia Final Fantasy

Everything else
* In the recent Tomb Raider games, nearly every relationship Lara has with a female foe could qualify. The most prominent pairing within the fanbase seems to be Lara and her Doppelgänger, with Lara and Amanda following close behind.
** After Amanda helps Lara save the world, she gives up on avenging James Rutland and saves Lara's life by holding her hand.
Line 14 ⟶ 15:
* Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Phoenix/Godot. All too much, with mountains of fanart to support them. (Of course, as the games continue, the "Foe" aspect recede into the distance and their subtext relationship becomes more traditional). Even the writers have noted that Phoenix, upon seeing Miles again for the first time in over a decade, would think he looks "very good".
** Purely Fanon Foe Yay from the same series includes such bizarre pairings as . (Spoiled because the rivalries in question are key plot points to the cases they appear in.)
** Apollo Justice and Klavier Gavin have this going on. Apollo even thinks in court at one point 'I'll wipe that smile off your pretty face, Gavin!'
** The pairing of Mia Fey and Dahlia Hawthorne seems to be gaining more & more popularity despite how they are in the actual storyline. And to a much lesser extent Mia Fey/April May (though that on the other hand is most likely just because of the vast potential amounts of Fanservice on that one namely on how they are both quite the Ms. Fanservice).
*** Do these two actually count as this trope or as Foe Yay Shipping? Either way, Mia/Dahlia is a bit of a squickysquicky case of this when you remember that they're actually cousins.
** And now we've seen Ace Attorney Investigations, there's a similar thing going on between Edgeworth and Shi-Long Lang, an interpol agent who calls him "pretty boy" more than once.
** And yet again from the same game with Calisto Yew: "You're sending the biggest chill down my spine, Edgeworth!"
Line 22 ⟶ 23:
* Who could forget Cloud and Sephiroth of Final Fantasy VII?
** Though the subtext was already off the charts in the original game, it's taken Up to Eleven in both the Expanded Universe and any games in which they make cameos together (notably Kingdom Hearts), to the point of blatant Ship Tease. Their epic battle at the end of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children was probably the most homoerotic fight in the entire Final Fantasy series, full stop. That's saying a lot.
** As long as we're on Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VIIIs Squall/Seifer and their rather bitter rivalry gets seriously extrapolated on by the fandom--despitefandom—despite the fact that both of them are canonically shown in relationships with women, and that prior to that Squall firmly rejects any kind of human relationship.
*** Actually it isn't just Squall. Seifer is really the key character involved but in fandom he is almost always paired with either Squall or Zell. Mainly as a result of him being more dominant than the other two. However most of the doujinshi that focuses on the pairings as well as fanart actually condenses the relationships more to Ho Yay than Foe Yay..
** Vincent gets his fair share of Ship Tease throughout his game with Lucrecia (retroactively speaking), Yuffie, and Shelke, but he also gets a hefty amount of Foe Yay from Rosso the Crimson.
Line 33 ⟶ 34:
** In Birth by Sleep, when Hades first sees Aqua he gives her a suggestive once-over glance with a very creepy grin.
** In Chain of Memories, Larxene practically molests Axel on-screen, stroking his face, pressing her whole body up against him, and generally ignoring his personal space. He's clearly uncomfortable about it, and she knows it too.
*** Well, that's more like Minion Shipping, seeing as Larxene was under the assumption that Axel was a supporter to her and Marluxia's cause (He wasn't, but he still never does anything to qualify as an outright "foe" to her either).
** Let's not forget Axel and Saix in 358/2 Days, who
* Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami of The King of Fighters have spent over a decade obsessed with each other, even going so far as to be romantic rivals in the Dating Sim spin-off Days of Memories.
Line 39 ⟶ 40:
** Same goes for Kula Diamond and K', at least if the fandom has anything to say about it. Granted they team up after 2001.
*** Actually Justified Trope in that Kula was genetically engineered to be a failsafe should K' ever defect (hence her Code Name, the Anti-K'). However, even in 2000, Kula showed no true mixture of enmity and infatuation towards K'.
* In Super Smash Bros.. Brawl, The Glomp administered by King Dedede onto Kirby.
** Don't forget a certain picture from the official site. There was a fanfiction for this mere hours of the picture hitting the internet.
*** Considering that both of those guys are semi-sorta-questionably-maybe canonically not straight, it was probably inevitable.
* In Jak II, Erol takes an unhealthy interest in torturing Jak for two years straight and then becomes even more obsessed when he escapes.

** Our first sight of Erol in Jak II has him leaning over a shackled, chained-down Jak on a Dark Eco injector slash torture device and telling him, "I'll be back later." (in an almost seductive manner) after being told to finish Jak off that night.
* Dante and Vergil from Devil May Cry, whose deadly Cain and Abel rivalry hasn't stopped fans from shipping them.
Line 54 ⟶ 55:
** In Metal Gear Solid 3, Ocelot becomes Naked Snake's Stalker with a Crush, following him around and idolizing him. Ocelot even sees Snake in a Gaussian Girl manner during their first meeting and fight. Later, Volgin notices Ocelot's obsession with Snake and even asks him if he's "fallen for him." Ocelot doesn't deny it. Even later in the game, Naked Snake notices that all his food is missing, and EVA says that Ocelot ate it all, reasoning that Ocelot wanted to learn to eat just like Snake. Also, in an optional codec conversation, EVA even mocks Snake for his inability to grasp the Foe Yay between himself and Ocelot.
*** The Ocelot-crush is mocked in this The Last Days of Foxhound comic. (Sniper wolf was said to have a crush on him too, hence Liquid's reaction.)
** Or the fact in the first game, Liquid strips Snake of his shirt before the fist-fight -- whenfight—when it's completely unnecessary. Doesn't help that Liquid is pretty flamboyant.
*** Somewhat justified as the suit helped his resistance to physical attacks.
** The very, very breath-taking fight between Vamp and Raiden in the fourth game
Line 60 ⟶ 61:
*** As well as when Raiden penetrates Vamp's body with his sword Vamp's response is to say "Yes..." in pleasure and get close to Raiden's face almost like he was trying to kiss him.
** Gray Fox is pretty obsessed with Snake... and his final fight with Snake is, erm, interesting to say the least.

* Silly!Hawke calls Meredith and Orsino out on this in Dragon Age 2.
Meredith: Orsino cannot evade me forever!
** And in the original Dragon Age, Player Party members Alistair and Morrigan loathe each other, but certain of their lines imply sexual attraction; Morrigan accuses Alistair of staring at her breasts, and one dialogue (associated with the Morrigan/male PC Romance Sidequest) has her say, after being accused of looking at the male PC like she wants to suck his blood and possibly Alistair's too, "If I ever want to suck anything of yours, Alistair, you'll be the first to know."
** While there are no canon hintings, the constant ribbing between Anders and Fenris has inspired the "Fenders" pairing. Not surprisingly, fans seem to enjoy content where the two are hostile towards each other.
* You can do this canonically as Hawke in Dragon Age II by romancing a rival.
* Star FoxFOX: Command: There's more to Wolf O'Donnell on why he's obsessed in taking Fox down... seriously. Heck, some of his lines are rather awkward ("I'm hot and cranky, and your orders are annoying, but I'll do them anyway!"), suggesting his silliness when confronted by Fox face-to-face.
** In Star Fox Assault, Wolf did have that "You're mine!" fluffy moments, which are quite accurate to the Japanese translations of the game.
* Guilty Gear has so many sets of bitterly opposed rivals that the character selection screen is actually organized around them. (No, really. in this arrangement, every character except the entire top row and Chipp and Potemkin on the second-from-bottom row have a strong connection to whoever is directly opposite them, usually either blatant idolizing fanboy/fangirlism or bitter and hateful rivalry. With this many Foe Yay pairings hinted at in the game itself, Guilty Gear shippers have plenty of material to work with, though Ky Kiske/Sol Badguy is the clear favorite.
** That is to say nothing between the weird hybrid of Foe Yay and straight up Ho Yay between Venom and Eddie/Zato-1. Given the fact that Venom is more or less canon gay and screams Zato's name when he loses sometimes...
** In a non Foe Yay sense, everybody except Order-Sol has an important relationship with the person(s) across from them on that row. Examples: Bridget (of Dropped a Bridget On Him fame) works for Jam, Chipp and Pot are friends (Potemkin is helping Chipp become President of America), and A.B.A. ends up holding Robo-Ky's head at the end of one of their shared endings.
* There's very little whatsoever to imply any sort of attraction between Sonic and Shadow of Sonic the Hedgehog. That being said, it's one of the most-shipped yaoi pairings in the fandom.
Line 76 ⟶ 77:
* In Tales of Symphonia, Kratos and Yuan spend most of the game at odds, with Yuan trying to keep his rebellious plans secret from the Big Bad, who Kratos apparently remains loyal to. They used to be close friends, but that doesn't stop Yuan from trying to kill Kratos to get a plot coupon. ...Or from , giving fangirls a well-publicized shot of Yuan cradling a semi-conscious Kratos in his arms.
** Genis and Mithos Yggdrasil have this in spades. Between Genis telling Mithos that he "really likes him" and keeping his identity a secret from the party, And then there's his reaction to Genis telling him he won't join, which couldn't possibly sound more like a break-up scene.

** Then, in the sequel, Emil and Richter. Emil is constantly obsessing over Richter in a hero worship way despite Richter almost killing him several times, and even remarks at one point "I'm not in love with him or anything, am I?". As for Richter,
*** In a skit after Emil learns about Regal once being forced to kill the woman he loved, he starts to wonder to himself if he'd be able to kill Richter if he had to. He then quickly backtracks and declares that that doesn't mean he's in love with Richter or anything. In his own internal monologue.
*** In addition, there's Decus's response when Emil first meets him in his own form, and Alice's obsession with "Mart-Mart".
Line 86 ⟶ 87:
** In Tales of Vesperia we have Zagi's obsession with Yuri.
** In Tales of Hearts, Chlorseraph seems to be motivated mainly by the desire to "free" Kunzite from his obligation to his mistress (by killing her), so that Kunzite will pay attention to him instead. He even calls him "my Kunzite" at one point. And then there's what he says after he is ordered to pursue the party:

* KOTOR II features an interesting and unsubtle moment really close to the end, for the female Exile player: it's a little vague, but it's there. Not the only one, either, there's one right at the end for both genders: surprisingly, this is not creepy in the least.
**
** Atris also seems to have a thing for the Exile. . Really, the Exile gets a whole lot of this.
*** More should be made of Atris' Foe Yay. To elaborate on the previous post, it's implied it's partially responsible for sending her down the slippery slope of insanity. Years ago Atris looked up to, adored, the Exile but after she left for the war and subsequently left the order, she hated her for being able to make the decisions she couldn't. By the time they meet again Atris has no idea what to feel. The Exile even has a plot reason for stirring these feelings in people: her ability to form intense Force bonds with people means even if they despise the Exile they are drawn and affected by her .
** Hell, with only a slightly dirty mind, you could read some really brain-breaking things into some of the dialogue options between Revan and Malak. Ho Yay optional.
*** The torture scene between Bastila and Malak. That is all.
Line 99 ⟶ 100:
*** You find Jin's swimsuit in Margulis' quarters on old Miltia. 'nuff said.
* Walter and Henry are a popular pairing in the Silent Hill 4 fandom. Not to mention the whole scene in SH2 with Pyramid Head licking James...
** Forget the licking. He spends the entire game stalking James across the town, repeatedly kills the only other person interested in him, and interrupts his rape of another monster twice to pursue James instead. As the manifestations of the town, including Pyramid Head, are formed mostly from James' guilt over Mercy Killinging his wife and his sexual frustration, it's entirely probable that he wants to fuck and kill James, likely at the same time, in what is possibly the purest form of this trope.
** Claudia's behaviour towards Heather in the third game seems very much like a Stalker with a Crush on more than a few occasions.
* Touhou characters Kaguya Houraisan and Fujiwara no Mokou are Immortality enemies that kill one another on a daily basis. However, Kaguya views their 'rivalry' as mostly a game to pass the time, as polite with Mokou as she is with anyone else (granted, that isn't saying much), while Mokou is absurdly obssessed with Kaguya, apparently still wanting her to suffer for humiliating her father more than a millenium ago, essentially flashing a collosal sign that reads "Tsundere". They are two sides of the same Foe Yay coin.
Line 105 ⟶ 106:
** There is also Carmilla. Her Alternate Continuity version's interactions with Gabriel Belmont in Lords of Shadow is the most blatant example.
* You don't have to look for Foe Yay in F.E.A.R.; . Really. And it really takes the creepy factor way up.
* In the Pokémon games, two of the Pokemon species, Zangoose (a mongoose), and Seviper (a snake), hate each other (naturally). They're also in the same egg group too, so yes, you can make little baby Zangooses and Sevipers with total mortal enemies. Skitty-On-WailordSpecies ActionCompatibility at its finest, folks.
** Also, think about it. When you put two Pokemon of opposite genders and same egg group at a Daycare, the Daycare man may say they hate each other... And yet, they make an egg.
** Also, Cyrus and <s>Lucas/Dawn</s> Dawn.
Line 126 ⟶ 127:
* Leviathan, Hot-Blooded Bottle Fairy member of the Four Guardians to Zero.
** Harpuia was pretty blatant too.

** Don't forget Fefnir, either.
* While on the subject of Mega Man, let's not forget Dr. Wily. For all the times he's tried to take over the world, his motivations for doing so were simply to outshine his rival, Dr. Light.
Line 136 ⟶ 137:
* Combined with Les Yay in Shantae. Risky's attitude toward our heroine is equal parts watch-me-as-I-crush-your-hopes and ooh-baby-I-bet-you're-a-freak-in-bed. Word of God says this is entirely intentional.
* Resident Evil has two prominant examples. Leon and Krauser in 4 (the most erotic knife fight/ Best Boss Fight Ever?), what with the shirtlessness, the motive back-and-forths, the cries of "Run Leon Run!" and "That's what I'm talking about.", it just goes on. Similarily, Wesker and Chris seem to have this going on in 5. As one fan once put it:

** Then there's the dialogue between them:

** Wesker and Chris' rivalry actually predate 5, what with Wesker being obsessed with him by the time of Code: Veronica. He doesn't seem to be as obsessed with Jill Valentine though, who was equally responsible in ruining his plans in the first game.
*** Wesker seemed to have a liking for Chris even before Chris meddled with his plans. In the remake, Wesker leaves healing items, weapons and ammo around the mansion for Chris to find, as well as notes of encouragement. He even fixes a broken doorknob for Chris, so that Chris can escape the monsters easier. He doesn't do the same for Jill.
* In Wild ArmsARMs XF, Weisheit is obsessed with Felius. His first monologue consists of, in summary, how he can't wait to torture Felius and have his body. It only gets more incredible from there. This even carries over into gameplay. The first time he is fought, if Felius is in the party, Weisheit will continuously target him and ignore the other five units you have. There is an explanation later for why he wants Felius' body, but the way he continuously talks (every time he is alone or with the group, his obsession will arise very quickly) and acts makes that explanation... rather flimsy.
* Nabooru often gets shipped with Ganondorf in the Zelda fandom despite the fact that the two of them are enemies in canon. Must be a Gerudo thing.
** They also do pairings between Zant and Midna. Granted, they may represent fan theory of what their relationship must have been like before betrayed and usurped her, while turning her into an imp.
Line 150 ⟶ 151:
** Interestingly enough, in the Bonus Dungeon, you will fight an Alternate Universe version of Fayt and whomever is highest in his Relationship Values is highest with. If the values aren't high enough for anybody; he's with Luther as a Mindslave.
* Oh Come on. Ulala and Purge? How can those two NOT be a couple?
* While everyone in Blaz BlueBlazBlue is out to get Ragna the Bloodedge for the ridiculously high bounty he has on his head, Jin Kisaragi, his brother, takes an especially perverse interest in wanting to kill him. This is played with in the "Teach Me, Miss Litchi" Omake skits, where Jin flips back and forth between heart-gushing upon seeing Ragna and wanting to rip out his guts.
** There's also Nu-13 who's conversations with Ragna are, well...
* Norman Jayden and Carter Blake from Heavy Rain are constantly at each other's throats for a vast majority of the game. The latter has a bad habit of getting incredibly close to the former's face during this verbal spars...
Line 183 ⟶ 184:
** Shingen and Kenshin are just as bad. Kenshin in particular sees Shingen as his significant other, insists they were brought together by destiny and talks non-stop about him. He also displays a very keen interest in young Yukimura and flirts with Masamune more than once.
** Then there's Motonari and Motochika. While they do hate each other, Motochika feels sorry for Motonari and wants to change him, while Motonari is obsessed with destroying the "annoyance". It's also one of the most popular pairings in the series.
** Don't forget Mitsuhide and Nobunaga. In Love with Your Carnage indeed. Plus Kasuga and Sasuke, though this is subverted as Sasuke is genuinely attracted to Kasuga, he's just a Jerkass, and Kasuga is a Type A Tsundere.
* In the World of Warcraft novel Rise of the Horde, Kil'jaeden's reaction to Velen fleeing Argus to avoid corruption smacks of jilted lover.
** And in the game itself, we have the Lich King and Tirion Fordring. "You will beg for mercy... and I will deny you." Right.
** As a more meta example, Varian/Garrosh has become something of a memetic OTP on the official forums.
* There generally isn't much of this in Monkey Island, what with the fact that both Guybrush and LeChuck have their eyes on Elaine. However, Tales of Monkey Island offers this bit of optional dialogue :

* Von Glower is like this towards Gabriel in Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within. He
Line 196 ⟶ 197:
* Dragon Fable: The relationship between Drakath and the protagonist (your character) can be seen as this. The further you get in the game, the more familiar they get with each other. They even (reluctantly) show a willingness to work side-by-side, at least until Drakath It could, however, be interpreted as Drakath believing the player character to be strong enough to defeat the enemy without needing his help, since they’ve fought against him before and he's obviously superior. He's also pulled a "[[The Only One Allowed to Defeat You|Only I can defeat [protagonist]!]]" on multiple occasions.
* In Devil Survivor, if you do end up fighting Loki, he is perfectly happy to attack you... after describing how to get through most of the game... and if Yuzu's the first one to attack him, he has this little bit of dialogue:

* Seen in Crash Bandicoot: Twinsanity between Crash himself and the villain, N.Cortex:
* There's a very subtle bit of Les Yay between Chris and Lucia toward the beginning of Suikoden III. Granted, it's fairly brief, but it's still there if you have your yuri goggles turned up high enough.
** Chris and Lily. Nuff said.
* Archrivals Gulcasa and Yggdra in Yggdra Union. He killed her parents. She spends the game killing most of his adoptive family. They each go through a period of obsessing over defeating each other, and wind up having a lot of sympathy for each other. The sexual tension does not go unnoticed by the rest of the cast, and is actually blatantly lampshaded at one point while Gulcasa is holding Yggdra captive--incaptive—in a conversation with Durant, Emilia claims that Gulcasa really likes Yggdra and is going to keep her alive until he's done with her. (She doesn't mean it that way, but that is how Durant takes it.)
* While Assassin's Creed II has Ezio and Leonardo da Vinci as its main yaoi pairing, there's also a notable undercurrent of Federico Auditore x Vieri de' Pazzi, and even before the release of Brotherhood there's a surprising bit of fic pairing Ezio with the new Big Bad Cesare Borgia.
* Reaver from the Fable series is hardly discriminating, but he flirts with the hero of Fable II and propositions the hero of Fable III. He repeatedly propositions Page, who loathes him for his horrifying business tactics (of which she was once a victim).
* Played with in Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse with Skun-ka'pe, a Killer Space Monkey, and Papierwaite, a wizard who worships Yog-Soggoth, who are mutually at war over the Devil's Toybox. Nothing they actually do is that subtexty, and Skun-ka'pe is very defensively heterosexual, but all the other characters act as if they're a couple as if it was the most natural, normal and obvious thing in the world. This even carries over to Poker Night At the Inventory, where the Devil's Playhouse deck shows Skun-ka'pe as the King and Papierwaite as the Queen.
* Wait a minute. No mention of Mario and Bowser (or Mario and Booster, for that matter) from Super Mario RPG, despite the picture at the top? Yes, it's perfectly plausible to end up with Bowser and/or Booster, instead of Princess, giving Mario a big kiss on the cheek, if you don't collect the wedding accessories she dropped earlier quickly enough.
* Reiji Arisu and Saya of Namco X Capcom, big time. She's quite vampish around him (with hints that she wants to get into his pants such as pet names and complimenting how handsome he's become, even during her Alas, Poor Villain moment at the end of the game), while Reiji just wants to see her dead for killing his parents. Their relationship was so thickly clouded by Foe Yay that the other party members mistook Saya for Reiji's ex and thought that they were going through a very violent breakup. That's right, an in-universe example of Shipping Goggles.
* Juri of Super Street Fighter IV has a very S&M vibe to her actions, taking combat sadomasochism to new heights. Her status among the fandom as a Memetic Molester Depraved Bisexual is nearly canon, given her general attitude and her Rival Battles with Chun-Li, Cammy, and Bison (Dictator).
** Especially with Dictator. Every single time these two have crossed paths, their conversations just reek of sounding like foreplay to some wild sexual romp. It was bad enough in SSFIV, but their ending in Street Fighter X Tekken ratchets it up tenfold.
** Vega (Matador) also has an unhealthy interest in Chun-Li, as he only has a fondness for "beautiful things."
* There is so much Foe Yay between Kain and Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series, one must wonder if it wasn't intetional:

* Roxis and Vayne in Mana Khemia have their own special appeal in the fandom. Roxis hates Vayne, berates him, goes out of his way to snub him for the better part of three years... and then turns around and says he wants to put a collar on him. To which Vayne doesn't really object. Add to that his special speech and the subtext-laden ending... Well done, GUST. We're interested.
* Tekken has Hwoarang and Jin. Hwoarang has it out for Jin because he was defeated in a street fight before the events of Tekken 3. However, it's one-sided because Jin has the Mishima bloodline on his mind and thus feels that Hwoarang is not worth his time.
** This rivalry actually has its own Distaff Counterpart in Jin's cousin Asuka (Jin) and Lili (Hwo). During the fifth tournament, Asuka defeated Lili, causing Lili to take their rivalry a bit too personally. Her, Asuka, and Xiaoyu's endings in 6 specifically involve Lili showing up at Asuka's high school in order to challenge her to a fight. This also potentially overlaps with Les Yay; Lili's butler Sebastian says that fighting is how Lili makes friends, while Tekken Tag Tournament 2 portrays the girls as the fierce rivals and close friends at the same time. Fans have not let this gone by unnoticed.
* Portal and Portal 2 have some obvious Foe Yay between G La DOSGLaDOS and player-character Chell.
* Though never implied in Red Dead Redemption, fans over at RDR forums tend to talk about de Santa's character, some saying he's the Mexican equivalent of John Marston.
* Batman: Arkham City. During the game, the Joker gets Batman's phone number and leaves him messages that sound more and more like a jilted lover because Batman never returns the calls. In the finale,
* There's quite a bit of noticeable Foe Yay scenes between Dr. Nefarious and Captain Qwark in Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, namely with them saving each other and this scene in the middle of the game.
* The Courier (if female) can invoke this with Benny Gecko, the guy who tried to kill her in the intro by shooting her twice in the head! Specifically, once you finally find him again, you can offer to sleep with, and though he's initially freaked out, he does relent, and the Courier can either use the opportunity to kill him, or just enjoy the sex with him. Either way,
* In Amnesia: The Dark Descent there is more than a little foe yay between the main character Daniel and the antagonist Alexander and it's not just because they're the only two characters... (go to about 3:00)
