Sports and comics came together like peanut butter and jelly in New York with Gallo's Humor. Created by Bill Gallo (1922-2011) of the New York Daily News, ''[[Gallo's Humor]]'' is a series of one-panel comics that poked fun and reflected on the triumphs and tragedies of the sports world, more specifically [[Big Applesauce|New York City]] Sports. Most of the characters of the comics are well known sports figures, who's accomplishments and controversies become satirized. Bill Gallo had some original characters of his own like Basement Bertha and Yuchie, who represented the everyday New Yorker rooting for their home team, sometimes the underdog.
