However, shielding an infantryman or small vehicle has more modest power requirements, albeit still much more than an infantryman or small vehicle would typically have a power plant capable of producing. Humanity can make small enough power generators in the form of micro-fusion cells, but [[Awesome but Impractical|they are rarely cost-effective to produce]], making each one almost the cost of a small starship. However, the [[Super Soldier|SPARTAN-IIs]] already incorporate such a device into their [[Powered Armor]] by necessity, making adding shields to their existing systems relatively trivial. As for The Covenant technology they reverse-engineered their shields from? Humanity still has no idea how '''those''' things are powered, and from all appearances [[Clarke's Third Law|lack an obvious power source altogether]].
