Hates Everyone Equally: Difference between revisions

This can be [[Truth in Television]]. The term for this kind of people is 'misanthrope', they usually manage to function within society, and can form normal relationships with other humans. Indeed, it's considered an asset for humourists (H.L. Mencken being the prime example).

* Police officer Henry "Roscoe" Rules from Joseph Wambaugh's ''The Choirboys''. It's considered to be his [[Jerkass|one redeeming trait]]. He expresses a wish for a word as ugly as "nigger" that he can apply to ''all'' humanity, and his co-workers eventually come up with "scrotes," which Roscoe gleefully adopts.

* In Stuart M. Kamisnky's Inspector Rostnikov series, the detective Emil Karpo is cold, detached, and a lot like a monk (and somewhat like Mr. Spock). When Rostnikov's wife meets Karpo, she thinks he's cold and distant towards her because she's Jewish. (As in the Monk example below, Karpo isn't misanthropic.)

He hates the living too, including his own worshipers; he hates other demons, and he hates himself. He hates everything except gaining personal power and spreading misery, destruction, and death; he wants all of existence to suffer before it is crushed, and he personally wants to be the one who crushes it. Orcus is a being born from the contempt, loathing, and hatred or all sapient beings, manifested when the [[Ancient Evil| Queen of Chaos]] birthed them from the moribund flesh of the primordial obiriths, and yes, Orcus hates them too. The one upside to this is, he doesn’t hate any one group of mortals more than he hates anyone else. Unlike his foe Demogorgon, he has no desire to see clerics of good-aligned gods sacrificed to him in horrific rituals; that would only imply that he hates some mortals more than others. Some of his worshipers have pondered whether it would be different if it were ''a thousand'' of them; maybe ten-thousand? A hundred-thousand? A ''whole species''? If all life on a planet were brutally slaughtered in Orcus’ name, would that please the Prince of Undead? No... He would merely hate that such achievements didn’t happen more often, and despise his would-be servants for their failure to show tenacity in their offerings.

** Arguably anyone with a [[Chaotic Evil]] alignment. [[Chaotic Neutral]] could easily fall into this, too; they'd just be less [[Ax Crazy|active]] about it.

* Lemongrab of the show ''[[Adventure Time]]'' doesn't like anybody. His sour personality is the result of a failed science experiment that occurred during his creation in a laboratory. Unless you completely avoid him, don't talk to him, don't look at him, and don't come anywhere NEAR him, then you're okay. But if you do so much as ask "Who are you talking to?" when he goes into one of his near-psychotic screaming rants, then he'll send your ass to the dungeon for the rest of your life. Even if you're his MOTHER. He just doesn't care.

* Zigzagged with Rick from ''[[Rick and Morty]]''; he ''does'' hate everybody but he hates his family a ''little'' less and hates himself ''far'' more.

* Similar to Rick is the protagonist of ''[[BoJack Horseman]]'' who hates himself slightly more than he hates everyone else.
