Even Inuyasha and his friends think Inuyasha's father was being [[Abusive Parent|far too cruel]]. Sesshoumaru shuts down so completely over this knowledge that, when Naraku takes advantage of his visit to Toutousai to attack Sesshoumaru's unprotected group, Sesshoumaru simply watches from a distant cliff top and doesn't go to their rescue.
