Since we know InGen was already considering the idea of further modifying the dinosaurs to meet the common cultural perception of the time (slow, plodding, stupid), it may be that after one of the early batches of bird-DNA altered dinosaurs came out "wrong", they decided to switch to something that definitely wouldn't invoke feathers: frogs.

* [[Limited Wardrobe]]: Malcolm's signature all-black ensemble. In the novel, he jokes about how his clothes are all grey and black, so he can get changed in the dark.
