** The use of "-sama" is to indicate that the underclassmen are very respectful to the older students. '-Senpai' is respectful, but '-sama' is how you would address a God/Goddess.{{verify}} (Hence the title 'Maria-sama', which is commonly used when referring to the Virgin Mary.) No real people would talk like this day-to-day, so it's one of the things that indicates this is fiction.
