Portal Breach: Difference between revisions

It was [[The End of the World Asas We Know It]] - the keepers of the multiverse decided to end it all (possibly [[For the Evulz]]) - deities called Portal [[Does This Remind You of Anything?|Alpha and Omega]]. Omega died under mysterious circumstances, leaving Alpha in charge and Alpha is not a nice god. [[The Cake Is a Lie|Thankfully]], there are other, lesser Portals who were allowed to create their own universes [[Unreliable Narrator|to save as many people as they could]], each named after a letter of the alphabet.

Each dimension is a "gamma" named after their respective Portal and contains people of the same temperament, all except for Gamma-X ([[Title Drop|Portal Breach]]), ruled by the illustrious Portal-X the Wise. He just wants to save people, [[Big Damn Heroes|deserving]] or [[Designated Villain|not]], and have a good time. Some settle down and make names for themselves, whereas some do not and fade into [[Put Onon a Bus|anonymity]].

* [[Blessed Withwith Suck]] - Psyche, whose empathy does not shut off.

* [[Cursed Withwith Awesome]] - The vampires, for one. [[Hellboy|Liz Sherman]], who hates her fire powers but has learned to accept them. Hellboy, who's the [[Anti Christ]] (or the [[Anti-Anti-Christ]], depending on how you look at it).

* [[Dropped a Bridge Onon Him]] - Another way some people get rid of characters they're bored with instead of just [[Put Onon a Bus|dropping them]], most recently with [[Jerkass|Delila]], who was [[Martyr Without a Cause|killed]] by [[The Fantastic Four|Dr. Doom]] in a duel to the death after an argument they had she [[Stupid Sacrifice|refused to back down from]]. A fight where she didn't even try to fight back and instead even ''[[Moral Event Horizon|chastised]]'' the [[Even Evil Has Standards|leaving]] audience members for watching. [[The Scrappy|Yeah, she wasn't a favorite.]]

* [[Fake Nationality]] - Seen a few times. Alex and the Sniper (both from [[Team Fortress 2 (Video Game)|Team Fortress 2]]) aren't strictly true to their origins.

* [[Forgotten Fallen Friend]] - Usually averted when a character [[Put Onon a Bus|mysteriously]] [[Dropped a Bridge Onon Him|disappears]].

* [[For Science!]] - Numerous characters, such as the Garden. [[Sid MeiersMeier's Alpha Centauri|Prokhor Zakharov]] absolutely epitomizes this trope.

* [[Halfway Plot Switch]] - A very common occurrence when major plots happen. Common examples include the Gamma-O plot, the Halloween plot and (almost) the [[Hanna Is Not a BoysBoy's Name|Hanna]] plot.

** The [[Hanna Is Not a BoysBoy's Name|Hanna]] plot that took place over the summer. {{spoiler|Zurg became the God inside Hanna's [[Playing Withwith Puppets|lackey]] and forced him to make puppets out of other people by draining their magic. Jo managed to band together multiple characters to [[Big Damn Heroes|take on the God]]... only to [[Failure Is the Only Option|fail]]. To make things [[It Got Worse|worse]], the God [[Brainwashed and Crazy|punished]] Zurg for helping Jo, turning him into a [[Body Horror|coin]][[Memetic Mutation|head]] and made him [[Does This Remind You of Anything?|attack and torture]] [[Kick the Dog|Jo]] who managed to get away only when Zurg [[Crowning Moment of Awesome|resisted]] the mind control long enough to let her escape. The rest of the characters then had to find the [[Dismantled MacGuffin|pages]] of Hanna's book that would defeat the God by finding the [[Jerkass|Augurs]] that guarded them. The Augurs gave the characters [[Riddle Me This|difficult riddles]] to solve, after which the characters began to ''finally'' start [[Earn Your Happy Ending|succeeding]].}}

* [[Jerk Withwith a Heart of Gold]] - More than a few examples, the most notable of them being Zurg. Because even though he's a [[Big Bad]], he's got a soft spot for Jo.

* [[Leaning Onon the Fourth Wall]] - As common as [[Breaking the Fourth Wall]], usually seen in posts when the player's wit and sarcasm creeps in.

* [[Pet the Dog]] - There are several examples available, but the most common one involves [[Cute Kitten|cats]]. No matter the [[Character Alignment]], most of the people on Portal Breach love cats. In fact, [[Even Evil Has Standards|abusing a cat]] is a sure-fire way to become [[The Scrappy]], as [[FostersFoster's Home for Imaginary Friends|Frankie]] and [[Fantastic Racism|Father]] [[Hellsing|Anderson]] can certainly tell you.

* [[Put Onon a Bus]] - How else does one explain players disappearing for motnths only to reappear again afterwards?

* [[Ridiculously -Human Robots]] - Lawrence, Proxy and all the Cybertronians.

** Livewire, due to [[These Hands Have Killed|several]] [[Parental Abandonment|issues]], is in the middle of a [[Freak -Out|breakdown]], Shadow Link routinely tosses bombs at people and wants to rule the world, and Ophelia is a [[The Fair Folk|Bean Fionn]], and it is in her nature to drown people.
