Powers gained from the system may not be good, or can be downright harmful in some cases. A character may be Blessed With Suck or come away losing the Superpower Russian Roulette, and now they have to deal with the consequences of being the Butt Monkey of society, blamed for all the problems solely for possessing some sort of ability. The power may cause harm to them or the people around them when they lose control, perhaps out of anger, leading to a Superpower Meltdown -- combat powers are especially prone to this. Perhaps they've inherited a power greater than the rest, but is feared by society, or they inherited a power mainly used for manipulation and war. Others may be upset that they didn't get the power they want, or in some cases, get no powers at all while all their friends do.

If these powers are especially prominent in society, then there's probably a Wizarding School set up to teach aspiring youth. Lessons are tailored to students' abilities and needs. Each day there will be energetic and filled with battle and action as the students train and further their abilities. Expect the protagonist to go here. Don't expect the standardised testing procedure there to be anything conventional.
