- Game Breaker: The Aqueduct in the Cities & Knights expansion allows players to have production even when their resource numbers aren't rolled. Players who get this early usually have a huge advantage.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Or in this case, Americans love Catan.
- Unfortunate Implications: In the early editions of the board game, the thief token was black.
- The cities in the game resemble chapels. Look what happens when you put four of them together. Doesn't help that the game is German...
