The '''Shana Clone''' is a character archetype originating in Japanese [[Light Novel]]s, [[Manga]] and their [[Anime]] adaptations, begun by the popularity of the character [[Fountain of Expies|Shana]] from the [[Light Novel]] series ''[[Shakugan no Shana]]''.

* The character has long, ''at least'' waist-length [[Rapunzel Hair]], usually unkempt or tied into [[Twin Tails]]. The actual color is less important, but [[Hair of Gold|blond]], [[Rose-Haired Girl|pink]] or [[Fiery Redhead|red]] are the most common.

* The character wears dresses, usually [[Joshikousei]], or long [[Elegant Gothic Lolita]] style dresses (the latter probably inspired by [[Gosick|Victorique]] and [[Rozen Maiden|Shinku]]), and [[Zettai Ryouiki]] at ''Grade A'', often qualifying for ''Grade S'',<ref>In fact, the "Grade S" classification of [[Zettai Ryouiki]] is based on a similar concept to this trope</ref> though that requires only any [[Twin Tails]], and any kind of Tsundere behavior. Also note that the ''Grade S'' classification was popularized by [[Fate/stay night|Rin Tohsaka, who doesn't fall under this trope]], though if her dress is a long one, it may be difficult to identify the grade and my simply appear to be full tights.

* The character is the female lead of the work, and the main [[Love Interest]] of the male lead, their relationship heavy on the [[Belligerent Sexual Tension]] and [[Cannot Spit It Out]]. Often there is a [[Supporting Harem]] of other girls as rivals.

 

* The character addresses the [[Love Interest]] in some extremely demeaning manner, such as treating him as her property, as being lower than human, or lower in status, even using belittling names like "dog", "slave", or "toy" instead.

* The character may be a [[Big Eater]], especially of [[Trademark Favorite Food|a certain kind of food]], usually sweet breads (Shana's was melon bread).

* The quote provided on the top of the page ("Urusai! Urusai! Urusai!"/"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!") will often be uttered by these characters.

* Before Shana, this archetype was preceded by Kotetsu from [[The Adventures Of Kotetsu]].

* [[Trope Namer|Shana]] is the [[Fiery Redhead]] [[Action Girl]] who made this archetype famous in ''[[Shakugan no Shana]]''. The rousing success of Her performance has since inspired many writers to imitate or outright copy her personality, [[Fountain of Expies|as seen in the following examples]]. Rie Kugimiya point: 1

** She's actually a [[Deconstructed Trope|more realistic version of the trope]]. Taiga's small body, flat chest and childlike appearance are the cause of several inferiority complexes and nearly-unrestrainable anger issues, and her [[Tsundere]] nature comes not from ingenuity or love confusion but from serious problems with her parents. {{spoiler|And to get the guy she loves, Ryuuji, Taiga actually has to tone down her aggressive nature, without fully losing herself.}}

* Aria from ''[[Hidan no Aria]]'', quite possibly the Fifth Tsundere Wonder. Rie Kugimiya point: 6

* Mio, from [[Author Existence Failure|the late, lamented]] ''[[MM!]]'', who is only different from most other examples in that she is tied in a [[Balanced Harem]] with her main rival, not a clear lead character.

** She's a rare hybrid of both the Shana Clone and [[Rei Ayanami Expy]].

* Mina from ''[[Dance in the Vampire Bund]]'' has all theses traits, except she's more of a type-B tsundere.

** However, ''Negima'' started only half a year after the Shana novels started, so this one may just be a coincidence.

** Also, Anna Yurievna Cocolova, 11 years old [[Twin Tails|twin-tailed]] [[Tsundere]], a [[Playing with Fire|literal]] [[Fiery Redhead]]. While on a [[First-Name Basis]] with Negi, she is still very violent when it comes to things concerning her [[Love Interest]]: her first appearance since chapter 1 (in chapter 170) is to deliver [[Calling Your Attacks|Anya Flame Kick]] to Negi for not coming home.

* Kodama Himegami from ''[[Maken-ki!]]'' shows many typical aspects of this trope, but her body height is normal for her age.

* ''[[Shugo Chara]]'' plays it straight with Rima Mashiro, but at the same time subverts it with [[One-Scene Wonder|Two Episode Wonder]] Yua Sakurai, who may fit the archtetype physically but is overall quite a nice girl.

** Especially compared to her female co-protagonist Misaka Mikoto, who takes everything but the appetite and the [[Rapunzel Hair]] (and replaces the biting with [[Shock and Awe|thunder]]), and goes to town with it.

* Haruna from ''[[Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?]]'', except that her hair is short like a [[Bob Haircut|bob cut]], not [[Rapunzel Hair]]-long. And she's a [[Jerkass]] [[Genius Ditz]] [[Genki Girl]] who only occasionally dabbles in [[Tsundere]].

* Fear from ''[[C³|Cubex Cursedx Curious]]''. [[Tsundere]]? Check. [[Nice Guy]] [[Love Interest]]? Check. Check. [[Rapunzel Hair]]? Petite [[Pettanko]]? Check. [[A-Cup Angst]]? She attacks a [[Buxom Is Better|more well-endowed]] girl and proclaims her an "enemy of the flat-chested". And that's only the first episode. Still, she's a relatively endearing version. {{spoiler|[[Slasher Smile|Most]] [[Dark and Troubled Past|of]] [[Beware the Nice Ones|the]] [[Unstoppable Rage|time]].}}

* Klan Klan from ''[[Macross Frontier]]'' fits the bill when in her Micronian form, though her [[Love Interest]] is [[The Lancer]] rather than [[The Hero]]. When macronized, by contrast, she's [[Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever|fifty feet tall]], [[Boobs of Steel|very stacked]] and somewhat more cool-headed (though she does smack Michel around once when he's in his mecha).

* Holo of ''[[Spice and Wolf]]'' doesn't always wear dresses [[Innocent Fanservice Girl|(or anything)]], but otherwise fits the model very well: she's apparently a teenaged [[Petting Zoo People|Petting Zoo Girl]] who's [[Really Seven Hundred Years Old|actually much older]], has long orange hair, is the female lead and main love interest of the male lead (after {{spoiler|his other love interest tries to kill him}}), tends to act high-and-mighty to the male lead and other humans (what with being an ancient wolf goddess and all), is somewhat [[Tsundere]] and spontaneous-punchy towards her partner, and eats impossible amounts of food, [[Trademark Favorite Food|especially apples]].

 

* Shinju Miwa from ''[[Shining Pretty Cure]]''. She's actually more snarky and less violent than most examples. Rie Kugimiya point: 7

* Aetae / Cure Arcturus from ''[[Milky Planet Pretty Cure]]'' is this trope applied to the [[Green-Skinned Space Babe]].

* Airi Ban of ''[[Shin Megami Tensei]]: [[Devil Survivor 2]]''. A bit less childlike than most, as she's only flat [[World of Buxom|in comparison with the rest of the female cast]] and is merely mad about still being mistaken for a junior high student when she's only in her first year of high school, but she has the [[Tsundere|temperament]], the Grade A [[Zettai Ryouiki]], and the [[Rapunzel Hair|long]] [[Fiery Redhead|red hair]] to match the original.

 

* Reo from ''[[Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo]]''. [[Tsundere|Bossy]], [[Older Than They Look|older than she looks]], [[The Ojou|rich]] [[Joshikousei|high-school girl]] with [[Zettai Ryouiki]], [[Rapunzel Hair|extremely long, thick, blonde hair]] and [[A-Cup Angst]].
