** Well, technically being a fairy godparent is like slavery too, even if you can 'quit', so it's not as if they're much better off.
** Well if these Genies are anything like the Genies of other myth they're slaves for a reason. That reason being that they're demigods who when left to their own devices tend to cause massive casualties and destruction and they're not so much intended to be slaves but rather prisoners in their lamps since whenever unleashed all their wishes are catch 22s.
