** Several chapters earlier, while Aoshi's on his way to Kyoto, he sees four of Shishio's [[Mooks]] having a picnic around his deceased henchmen's gravestones. He tells the mooks not to desecrate the graves, in response to which one of them contemptuously spits on one gravestone.
