George Harrison died of cancer in 2001. Sir Paul McCartney (he was knighted in 1997 and handled it in a way that ensured ''no one'' would let him [[Never Live It Down|live it down]]) and Ringo Starr are still out there touring, doing a bunch of miscellaneous projects, and occasionally making records -- and they both still write ''good'' music. In 1966 John Lennon gave an ill-thought-out comment that The Beatles were "[[Blasphemous Boast|more popular than Jesus now]]." He promptly apologized for it, but it had already been taken out of context by the press. John wasn't saying that the Beatles were ''more important'' than Jesus; but if you were the kind of "thick-headed disciple" who would burn Beatles albums over this, then the context -- his thoughts on the state of Christianity -- would not be much comfort. Still, in 2008, the Vatican admitted that he had a point.
