This was Universal Pictures, already known to have adapted [[Dracula (Literaturenovel)|Dracula]] and [[Frankenstein]] to film. Adapting Evy's novel for their Mummy movie makes complete sense!

Somewhere inbetween ''Returns'' and ''Dragon Emperor'', the O’Connells got into [[Noodle Incident|an adventure]] that [[Disney Death|cost Evy her original body]], but she somehow later received [[Maria Bello|Maria Bello’s]] as a new host. Perhaps it formerly belonged to [[Body Snatcher|some enemy]] who was responsible for her death in the first place, thus making it [[Hoist Byby His Own Petard|just desserts]]. After some awkward adjustment, the family collectively decided [[Let Us Never Speak of This Again|to never speak of this incident again]].

* Alex. Also sometime inbetween films, a nebbish, adolescent Alex started [[I Want to Be Aa Real Man|wanting to be seen as a(n independent) man]]. He took to using an [[Fake American|American accent]] [["Well Done, Son" Guy|like his father’s]] and [[Obfuscating Stupidity]] to appear [[Book Dumb]]. Underneath the swagger, he is still [[Quintessential British Gentleman|a well-read, stiff-upper-lip Brit]]. All in-movie blundering counts as evidence of him [[Becoming the Mask]] to some degree.
