The State of Missouri is known as the "Show-Me" State, nicknamed for its residents' reputation for skepticism. Home to [[Harry Truman]] and the starting place of the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trails (all Independence, including Truman); also the home of [[Mark Twain]] (<s>Hannibal</s> Florida. Yes, there is/was a town called Florida, Missouri), [[Mind Screw|as well as a]] [[Kansas City]] (''[[The Day After]]'' featured prominently here and the nearby ''Kansas'' city of Lawrence). Speaking of cities, the capital city is Jefferson City, largest city is Kansas City—or maybe St. Louis, home of a very important World's Fair (so important that it was [[Meet Me in St. Louis|part of a movie]]).
 
Missouri is famous for having tons of barbecue places (predominately in St. Louis and Kansas City), unpredictable weather, and lots of rednecks—including people who fly Confederate flags—possibly stemming from the state's divided loyalties during [[The American Civil War|the Civil War]]. To this day, its argued whether Missouri should be considered Midwestern or Southern. Since 1904, Missouri has voted for the winner in every presidential election, with the exception of [[Barack Obama|2008]] and [[Dwight D. Eisenhower|1956]], leading to the nickname "The Bellwether State".
